Anyone sell their Husky lately? Im trying to sell my 09 WR every mod imaginable 300 for $3600. Been trying to sell it for the last 2 months with no buyers. The bike is in great shape and well taken care off. What do you have to do to sell a bike? I'VE got 3 bikes in the garage. 2011 gasgas 300, 2009 WR 300 and a 09 TXC 300. Wifes getting pissed but at this point i would rather keep the WR than give it away.
I've been trying to sell a 2010 TE250 and not even a bite after a couple of months as well. Short of giving it away, i'm thinking husky isn't helping by having too low of blow out pricing for the end of the year.
That has been a problem for awhile with Husqvarna for awhile. I ride em, but try to buy a carryover in order to save some money! $3,600 is a little high for a 09 wr300 when there is 2010's new in the crate still available. Supply and demand changes things, if it were a 150, I think it would be gone. How much for the 11 Gasser! Remember also, forget about your accessory money no matter if it's a Honda or a Husky. It may help sell it, but rarely do you recover those funds. Try ebay, I have sold at least 3 Husky's this way, maybe more. If I tried to sell one in my town I would be stuck with it no matter what. Dirt bikes lose value fast no matter what the brand!! Try ebay!!
I understand about the leftovers but to replicate my bike your looking at over 2k on top of purchase price. I love the "off brands" but man you take a killing on selling it. Gasgas is also pimped out by the gasgas race team but probably couldnt get what i paid for it. Paid 6k for it. Bike only has 8 hours on it. Theres only 1 of me and not enough time to spread the love to the 3 ladies in the garage.
Seems like a couple of things working against you. The availability of cheap '10's and a sick and dying economy. I don't think used dirt bikes of any make are bringing top dollar quickly.
Did you see in the classified section of this website somone wants to buy a 2 stroke woods bike from a 150-300?
I agree with Walt. Talked to several guys at the races, even on other brands. The economy is making people hold off and also gas prices. There is really nothing new except some small refinements to all the brands. It use to be that you would get a new bike every year but with the price tags, guys are holding on to them for 3-4 years now. Ebay, is probably the best route to attract a large audience. On the plus side, our older ones are still very competitive against what comes out. I don't think you'll see a turn in new major R&D and start up costs till the world economy door swings the other way. The corporations are all banking their cash.
Im not getting any bites on my 09 WR300 either. At your asking price I would rather keep mine. I have no reason to take such a beating and it means one more bike for someone to ride at China Hat in October !!!
Nothing is selling. Been trying to clean house on some stuff, bikes included and it is a real hard sale. Sold my FJ1200. WXC250 gets no calls and shes a GREAT bike. Sold my WR144 this weekend but only because a friend rode it and had to have it. It is still here but I miss it already. Now I'm waiting for a minty 2010 TC250 for $1500 to pop up
You can now list on ebay as a classified ad as opposed to a traditional auction. Great way to get national coverage for a set price and it's cheap. Selling fees are also cheap. The brand is a strike against it, I hate to say it, it just doesn't have enough notariety to attract anyone other than the offroad knowledgable. Anybody that's new is going to be told by their buddies to get a jap bike or a KTM. A 2-stroke is also a strike, the industry/sport has gone 4-stroke, like it or not that's the reality. Here in CA it's worse because of the red-sticker/greensticker issue. A 3 year old bike, regardless of mods done (BTW,they don't add value) probably has a market value of half what the current one is selling for. I don't know what that is, but if it's $7000 then the used one is probly worth $3500, maybe a bit less to motivate someone to move on it. Expect to get an offer 10% lower than whatever you're advertising. Motorcyle sales dropped some 80% between '08 and '10, virtually all models from '09 were still being sold into '10 and even still today. A friend of mine picked up a 2009 KTM 200XC last month, brand new on the floor, at not much less than regular price. They are also irreplaceble so dealers are holding at least some gross on them. That still doen't help the used market. Frankly, I hate to be a naysayer, but the magic number is probaby in the low 3's to get a motivated buyer. I doubt said anything you didn't already know. Sorry.
They arent quite that cheap but Bill's has started advertising TC250s dirt cheap ... http://billshusky.com/archives/1935
What do you think of parting out a bike? Would hate to do it but it might come down to that. Im seeing same year ktms at a grand more!!
Tough to sell a used bike of any brand right now. I've been trying to sell my KTM 250 xc-w all summer and can't seem to get any interest.
It's a buyers market all the way around. I'm trying to sell a house right now and there is so many foreclosures and short sales out there a guy is lucky to get 1 person a month to even take a look inside. Not joking.
I agree that nothing is selling right now...at least not at a price you'll be satisfied with. I have a tagged, street legal, loaded out KTM for sale and have only had 1 remotely serious bite. I think that the extreme heat this summer had a big affect on our area too. I hardly saw any street or dirtbikes out. I just don't think people even considered riding, much less buying a new bike to sweat it out on. I'd thought about parting it out, but I think I'm just going to hold onto it as a spare bike. Like you, I don't want to give it away.
