For filling tires? I have two of the little electric pumps. They take forever to fill a tire, but they do work. Many of the guys over on the ADV Rider or TT forum use the slime brand ones.

Yes for tires. Have a small portable electric Campbell Hausfeld pump. And yes, it takes forever and is loud early in the morning filling the tow vehicle tires lol. So I was looking into a portable air tank that the electric pump may be able to fill. Faster and quieter.

Make sure theyre inflated correctly before you go.
I use a twin barrel foot pump with grease so it doesnt squeak.

Yeah this is when airing up at the house before heading out. Now I am hearing the air tanks do not hold the air for very long.

Ummm any idea how long a co2 fire extinguisher holds pressure for? Cant you put an adaptor to an air line and use that with psi guage too inflate your tyres? When your done get it recharged at a diving shop or something.
Or you could use a small diving bottle... If you insist on having a pressurised tank an all.

You could get a small nitrogen tank . Use it for tires , shocks , whatever . Should last a lot longer before needing a refill .

I have the kind of pump that goes in a cigarette lighter socket on car pickup etc. Actually it is so banged up I have to open the hood and hold the parts that once went into the socket against the battery. There are various sizes of those things if you read the instructions and do not run it longer than 12 minutes they seem, at least the sized ones I have had, to last until lost misplaced or smashed. Maybe one I took apart and got going again.

I have a pancake 10 amp electric compressor. It holds I think 5 gallons of air and weighs 35 pounds. If the hose is unplugged it basically holds air indefinitely. I am sure that tank would be enough to pinch the tube and try again on a motorcycle dirt bike rear tire a few times when starting at 150 which is when it stops running while plugged in.

As to the nitrogen cylinder pretty much need a regulator, even the tiny lab bottle and regulator are larger and heavier than the cigarette lighter compressor. The regulator and part of the cylinder it attaches to need to be kept clean. I did that a few times at most actually used it once. Carbon dioxide is a liquid in the cylinder and hence has a lot more actual gas.

What ever you use just make sure it is rated for the pressure to be used . See if there is a date when it may need to be recertified . Sun light and heat can raise the pressure inside the tank . Last thing anyone needs is to have a tank fail and an injury due to the failure .

I gave up on them all and use certain bicycle pumps. The small compressors have tiny pistons, are noisy, etc... Tanks just are heavy compared to a bike pump, unless you are doing high pressures or a lot of tires, deflated tires, . Car tires and a cheap Chinese made hardware store bike pump is about 7 strokes per lb. For topping off car tires works well. For dirt bike tires at less than 20lbs I use a good floor pump unless I am pumping from flat and I'll use the compressor. Bad back? maybe pumping isn't the best ;)

I've got a portable air tank for occasional flats around the farm, have had it for a decade or more. I think it came from Napa, but not sure they sell them anymore. It's good quality, not a cheapy. I wouldn't carry it pressurized inside a vehicle or depend on it to hold full pressure for a weekend, although mine seems to not loose pressure and it has a relief valve so it can't be over filled.
For topping off a good quality bike pump works great and can be taken along easy enough. Even filling a flat/new dirt tire is doable and only takes a few minutes.
Your small, portable compressor isn't going to fill the air tank any easier or more quiet. Having a real compressor, air tank and good bike pump pretty much covers it all.

Thanks all. Just gonna run the small compressor till it croaks. I can always step away from it while it is screaming

So a steal air tank won't hold air very long, check it for leaks.
Only have to refill mine if i empty it. Most have pressure relief
valve's unless it's homemade then junk it as its unsafe.

Are you familiar with these? Compressed CO2 made specifically for tyre inflation.
