Another option to take away some of the guess work. (remember to check the float level before chasing your tails, JD Jetting has acknowledged this issue as well)

Is that the S-1 needle jet?

ask aomc I have no idea. I just want a new brass collection for the new machine mikuni, I have oem kit, jd jetting and now aomc , so far oem is fine and seems to match the book chart very well once I lowered the daggone float height that would spill fuel at even the slightest side lean angle.

Well, there has been a lot of discussion about replacing the needle jet. The stock one is the R-8 and I believe the next rich one is the S-1. That has been the discussion that the lean needle jet has ben causing one to have to have a big pilot jet. Changing the needle jet is a bit more tricky.
    It goes:
    R-8 = 2.79mm
    S-1 = 2.805mm
    S-4 = 2.820mm
    Diameter of the hole.

I just installed a JD kit and it vastly improved the jetting. Not 100% perfect (yet), but way better. No more bottom end bog. I can't believe they went down to a 30 pilot from a stock 37.5. That is a huge jump

I had a full season on the TX and made some subtle changes along the way. Final jetting as follows with significant improvements when I "opened" up air box that included holes on top of air side and open hole on right side:

    Needle: 6bfy44-74 top clip
    430 main(stock)
35 idle(went from 37.5 stock) definitely improved bottom
    80 starter jet(stock)

Kingston ontario 0-3000 ft riding ranged across Ontario but pretty flat..

Now why did I order the JD kit....good question....will certainly update when I install and compare but I now have my GOTO summer settings with the above in case the JD won't make gains. BTW plug was a nice marshmellow brown but still a taaad on the rich side.
