Are basic Italian Husky parts becoming hard to find?

I recently visited my local Husky dealer looking for some parts (radiator shrouds, oil filters, intake manifold boot, and brake pads) for my 2009 TE510. At the counter I was told I couldn't place an order because the "computers at husky were down" and even if the order was placed I wouldn't see the parts for possibly months. A few quick calls to other dealers resulted in finding out some items are on "backorder." I realize Husky has been sold, but are the new owners really doing nothing to keep parts available for older models? I don't expect them to manufacture new spares, but at least keep track of, and make available the ones that already exist.

P.S. I tracked down some oil filters semi locally and bought out their stock on hand, cross referenced the front brake pads with a KTM and found those, repaired my shroud using zip-tys, and was looking at buying the manifold boot as insurance after reading OlderHuskyRider's awesome thread about his TE...Hope mine doesn't begin to leak...

Hard to be optimistic. Good news is I got over thirty years out of the -first Swedish , then Italian Huskys. Still riding the gun sight but the end is nigh.

Probably going to be bad for a while-that's how it was with the first Swedish to Italian(Gagiva) switch. Getting everything reorganized and redistributed has to be tough. I don't know what Husky N.A.'s distribution set-up was like here in the U.S. but if they have get re-set thru KTM that's gotta take time.

I just got some parts for my '09 WR125/165 from Halls. They had to order at least two parts and they got them quickly. Parts have been transferred from BMW in Nazareth PA, to KTM in Amherst OH. Old Husky factory, is now a parts warehouse for Italian Husky parts. You need to find a different dealer....

I definitely agree that my local dealer leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to the Huskys. Thanks for the info regarding the transfer of NOS parts, that bit of information raises the optimism level. I too have a YZ250 I love and plan on riding more, but man, my 510 is now well set-up and rides so sweet, it's also a huge plus having the plate. I hope to keep the 510 on the trail/road! Halls, they've always been great, not sure why I forgot to try them first!

In reality no. All the basic parts maintenance wise will continue to be available. As such there are usually aftermarket options that are both better quality and less expensive than OEM. If it can be broken chances are there's better replacements to be hand too. The key part of all of this is the protective equipment. Since I don't foresee any DS on the horizon that would replace my 610 I've made a point of Having a good bash plate, bark busters, case saver, and most every bit of good protection available. The only thing I can see that isn't likely to have much aftermarket and may become unavailable could be the plastics....... when those aren't available I'll have to learn how to lay up carbon fiber.

Give Bills and Halls a call, if they dont have it or cant find it it is going to be hard to find. I;m sure there are a few more good shops to put on this list but those guys are really into the bikes and stock parts and care.

i asked my dealer this very question a month ago and he laughed. He said he still gets parts for original swedish made huskys. This hysteria needs to stop

I have a Honda/Yamaha dealer on every corner too and it takes them 2 weeks to get even the most basic maintenance parts for my Yamaha. I get parts in 2 days for my Husky delivered to my door step for half the cost of the Japanese ones. Halls cycles rocks!

I needed a rear hub and carrier for my 09 WR last year during ice racing series and called all the big names. I had to park the Huskie.

Isn't the rear wheel a generic Japanese made wheel with cross references to other universal brands?
