Glucosamine -- I've got an old service injury in my throttle wrist and without this stuff, my riding would have been over yrs ago maybe ... It is not a cure but should help hold the pain off before it starts off during a ride ... I also have to pay attention to how I ride at the start of a ride to help delay the pain that is gonna start each ride.

This stuff is not a pain reliever and you will need to take it over a period of time to get results ...

Ditto on the glucosamine it takes 30 days to start working but it lubes the joints. It works.

They used this first on race horses. Then found out it works on humans. It's a mixture of hooves and beaks ground up plus other stuff.
Exercise helps too a body in motion stays in motion. I have arthritis bad in my joints, spinal stenosis in 12" of my lower back. As long as I can breathe I'm going to try to ride again. Nothing is going to hold me back. I did a few practice runs it felt good.

My finger joints are showing signs of arthritis. All the crashes and injuries come back to haunt us as we get older. I try to not focus on the pain so I think about other things. I try to block it out. I need to wear a flexible lower support and a back brace for my back.
It holds me together. My chest protector will do the rest. I just don't care anymore.

I don't know what to do about it, but I know what the weather will be a day before.

i hear good things about hemp [yes that hemp]oil if you live in the right state what with ol boobs and my brother in-laws tumors im up on this stuff the good lord give us that plant for a reason there doesn't seem to be anything the stuff doesn't just kick the shit out of shame on government for not letting us have it but big pharma runs the government it would cost them billions there are other oils tho she went to get a movie be back soon. Ok Juli here, Ok for arthritis we need to figure out what type of arthritis you have. Is it Osteoarthritis (where the cartilage is broken down and bone is rubbing on bone) or is it Rheumatoid arthritis (an autoimmune disorder that causes inflammation in the the joints). If you have osteo then I would suggest you use Peppermint, Wintergreen, Frankincense, Eucalyptus, Cypress. Now you can use these one after the other or rotate these oils. (use one then use a different one the next day or week) You need to get a good coconut oil which you can find in the food aisle at Walmart or any other store. You can mix these with the coconut oil and make a salve with the coconut oil. I totally believe in these oils. Yes I am listing alot of them. Do you need them all? No but you will want them all once you realize how they make your body feel great again! If you have the Rheumatoid type you need to look into an autoimmune diet to help alleviate your pain and discomfort from the inside by getting the foods causing pain to your body out of your diet. If you need or what anymore info please let me know.

One of the things that helped me was to cut sugar out of the diet. I'm not a nutter that doesn't eat fruits and so on anymore, I'm just more weary to what I buy and eat. Everything is loaded with sugar nowadays even stuff you wouldn't believe... like mustard, sausages or pickled gherkins. Not to mention that I lost 10 kg in the process (20 lbs or so) without doing more exercise or eating less.
Arthritis runs in my family from my mothers side, I'm one of the only ones that doesn't suffer much probably due to what I eat. Some of my relatives are in bad shape and are younger than me. One changed her diet too and is now much better.
Glucosamine and fish oil helps as mentioned that it lubricates the joints.
Some people who have arthritis really bad swear by shark cartilage, but I guess we get in to snake oil territory on that one.

I have heard of Shark Cartilage being good, you might look at a local health food store for that. Sugar is one part of it but grains, veggies from the nightshade family (tomatoes, peppers etc), beans, legumes are also inflammatory foods. health food stores have essential oils too. some you can ingest and some that are just for topical use. make sure they are high quality grade. Get one or two and try them for a little bit with the coconut oil either put on oil on then layer the other or alter use one for a week then the other for a week and back.

I don't think I'm arthritic, maybe pre-arthritic. Lots of sore spots and some stiff, aching joints. All the old injuries....
Along with very little sugar or processed food I've been taking the triple whammy for joint support, Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM for quite a few years and that def helps. Also Arnica oil on sore spots and Calendula on bumps and bruises, Ibuprofin as necessary. Elijah Craig 12 yr old bourbon cures it all for a little while too ;)

About 40yo the pains start from old injuries. It kind of levels off. The rain aggregates it.
. From there it gets worse at about 58yo my spinal stenosis started it would come and go till 62yo it hit and stayed. The joint pain too. Don't get old.....

Reminder get your prostate checked for cancer. It's been hitting younger males in there teens. If detected early a quick dose of the big microwave will stop it.

True, I have a friend who went through the targeted radio therapy and it kicked ass. He was surprised on his first treatment when the transmit tube came out after the 360 3d MRI. It said Varian on it. Years ago he worked at that company pumping tubes down. Great company that made everything from glass tubes to huge klystrons and klystrodes for radio, TV, radar etc. Nice to know they are saving lives with this awesome technology.

It's been a loooong time since I've seen the doc, so this year I promised the missus I'd go get a check up.

After my ruptured quad tendon repair in early 2012, at my pt's advice I began the joint supplement plan. I had a long recovery and after 2 years I discontinued the joint pills. I started a rapid improvement within 2 weeks. The glucosamine and related pills did nothing for me personally. I tried many brands with high hopes but for some reason my body didn't respond to them, if anothing it màde it worse. My joint health continues to improve since discontinuing them. It's been a year since stopping glucosamine and my knee now looks like a knee again. I'm not sure why I don't benefit but after 2 years and zero improvement I'm done with that snake oil. Now it's good diet, regular work outs and lay off the booze and I'm good.

I'm gonna watch for that shark cartridge stuff try some of it ....

As far as sugar goes, if I wanna ruin tomorrow, all I gotta do is eat about 8 cupcakes before bed .... My body will feel like it is made of lead the next day ... Seems I have booze under control but that is another thread ... And I know I don't have booze under control most likely...

Those yr long and longer injuries are to be avoided ...

non-sense. Killing sharks, rhinos, elephants, bears, and all sorts of critters( some highly endangered) for zero proven medicinal benefit. Why not eat some pig cartilage, cow cartilage, chicken cartilage!

Mostly true but some stuff works. They still find substances in natural products that works or is close to lab made stuff. Reason no one cares is that medical companies can't patent the molecule and they rather sell you their expensive stuff.
Things that work are fish oil (that is why you should eat fish) chicken soup when you have the flu and so on. Totally agree that rhino horn is stupid and useless as it is keratin like fingernails.
Learned this from an old fisher man. They used to cook the liver from sharks they got accidentally and didn't want to waste. Then let the oil drip out. Anyhting covered in that stuff will NOT rust forever! Now you can buy a deodorised version. Try it!

I don't know how anybody wouldn't feel like :censored: after eating 8 cupcakes. It would only take about two of them to make me feel like crap. 8 would probably kill me.:(

Some good info here. The glucosamine , chondroitin affects me adversely negative (migraines), and I've tried several brands to no avail. Trauma is the initial cause of all my arthritis and if I knew then what I know now....I wouldn't have played any easier!

Not trying to go off topic here too far, but I did a little reading on sharks ...

Some studies suggest 26 to 73 million sharks are harvested annually for fins. The annual median for the period from 1996 to 2000 was 38 million, which is nearly four times the number recorded by the Food and Agriculture organization (FAO) of the UN, but considerably lower than the estimates of many conservationists. It has been reported that the global shark catch in 2012 was 100 million.

    --

That harvest number looks huge ... How could that many be taken, annually, and they still exist? How many are out there? ...

I've had my pain since about age 28, just after I entered the service and up till now ... Its continued to get worst through the yrs as was explained to me when it first happened .. That's almost 30 yrs ago ... Not out to save the planet or anything other than my own tail really but I'll leave the shark cartridge on the shelf ...Every-time I do math on aging stuff, the sum or product always seems to come out in decades ... Seems like another life almost.
