What bikes besides Cagiva should go in here?

My understanding is that the Cagiva Bikes ((Castiglioni Giovanni Varese) where made about 1978-1989.

I really think that Husaberg is more of an 'other bike' at this point, and it is going away soon anyway.

So unless someone can give me a clear idea what other bikes should go into this "Husqvarna Cousins - Cagiva, etc" I will probably just rename it to "Cagiva" and keep things simple.

Sounds great, keep the input coming (if there is any more input).

Its a stretch and perhaps no longer relevant but Aermacchi, which I believe was once owned by Harley and then bought out by Cagiva. Could be wrong about this!

You can't put Vertimati and VOR in, without Husaberg.... Vertimati was the Italian Husqvarna distributor before Cagiva bought Husqvarna. That sale ended their ties with Husky and they became the Italian Husaberg distributor, when production started. They were also Husaberg performance tuners and racers. This led to the Vertimati motorcycle. Vertimati started to concentrate on Supermoto and some engineers spun off again to start VOR (Vertimati Off Road). All these motorcycles common antecedent is... the Husqvarna 510 4T.

Husaberg going away yes, but very much a cousin of Husqvarna...

    Sounds good.

Keeping in mind that my only goal is to make this site as easy to use as possible, I will leave the title: "Husqvarna Cousins - Cagiva, etc"
And the description: "Bikes Related To Husqvarna Bikes"

That way the people that know all of the history of the brand can post Husaberg things in here, and those less in the know can put Husaberg things in "Non-Husqvarna Motorcycles".

Hopefully that should make the site reasonably accurate and reasonably easy to use.

EDIT: I would like to point out that while I am sure most people are keenly aware that Husaberg is related to Husqvarna, people with Husabergs that want to talk about them may not realize they are "Husqvarna Cousins" as opposed to "Non-Husqvarna Motorcycles". Just want to make this site as easy as possible to use.

Think you can quite safely assume that most readers will be prepared to accept Bergs as part of the family.

Husabergs were born of Husqvarna blood. They were way more Husqvarna than KTM for most of their production life. They totally belong here, although your explanation as to why you're leaving it the way it is makes sense to me, Coffee :)

I know this isn't exactly what you might have been after but....How about a thread for the Cagiva Gran Canyon 900, it's an "adventure bike" of the 19" front wheel type with the great 2v Ducati 905 engine. It's the updated version of the Cagiva/Ducati Elefant, I know several members here that own them.
The more bikes in the family tree of Husky the merrier I think

Curious as I am thinking of an adventure bike next summer...how different is the cagiva gran canyon for an early Ducati multi strada ... Just can't afford the used bmw gs ...but I passed up a cagiva gran canyon this summer ...a low mile 10k for 4500$ ...the exotic parts $$$??? Kinda scared me...I found an 06 multi strada for 5k$ ...still a nice bike but still seems like a gamble parts wise...always did love the big elephant Paris to Dakar bikes ....opinions? Would love to have had that cagiva now but was dumb and drug my feet...looking at the Ktm 950/990 as a possible they appear a little more off road worthy ...thinking camp/explore/fire roads gravel travel!

funny but Husaberg is the other bike as in the "other bike" the engineers would have offered if they were in charge and not bean counters :oldman:

After 1989 Cagiva put Husqvarna Graphics on thier Two-strokes and they pretty much stayed the same till 2013.At least the 250-300 platform.

Don't forget about the Suzuki powered V 1000 twin version, I still have mine along with my Cagiva huskies...the best thing about it is that the muffler cans look like they were straight off my old TE610. Great sound, great bike.
