at the risk of being discriminatory toward other people on cafe husky who aren't from Australia, i thought i would see what Australian tr650 owners are using as pannier racks and other accessories as all i have seem to have found online are the ventura tough rack, Touratech (expensive) rack, and not many of the suppliers of other racking systems offer anything for the Terra which is a bit disappointing ... so would love some information of what people are using (pannier racks and any accessories) that is available in Australia.

Nev is using the Andy Strapz Expedition panniers and racks, made in Aus. I have bought the Wolfman Expedition dry saddle bags from Adventure Moto, but had to buy the racks from BR Moto directly from the US, as Wolfman has decided not to take them on for the TR. Berg was great to deal with though, he sent me a paypal invoice and I paid that, and he shipped them pronto via US postal. Not seen what other Aussie customers have done in terms of side racks

I also just fitted Andy Strapz Expedition panniers and custom designed racks for the TR 650 and they are great. Good ventilation along the exhaust pipe area and plenty of room for camping gear in one and cloths etc in the other. I also carry a 36 litre seat bag from Oxford (english) and a very comfortable self inflatable mattress sits on the standard rear rack secured by Andy Strapz and a 5 litre feuel container sits on top of one panner secured by a strap. Throughly recommend this product for other Terra owners.

right yes i really like the wolfman expedition panniers however its very expensive to post over the br moto racks.. almost ends up being the price of the racks again. I am considering the giant loop - great basin saddle bag or coyote as they seem quite practical and can hold alot.. there is a thread on here somewhere of a tr650 with this setup and it looks quite good, this is my first dual sport bike so not really sure as to which system i would personally prefer

FYI, Wolfman has a new attachment system coming very soon. This allows their bags to work on any rack.

I have the Husky OEM ones. Expensive but got the bike so cheap that the whole thing didn't cost much more than the bike was going to originally ( AND I have a coffee cup).
They are Givi's really but their latest ones. VERY well made and extremely easy to use. Very fast on and off.
They are very wide however and I get the bike stuck between things occasionally. With the single pipe on they look a bit stuck out. Might make a new set of narrower ones to go with the single pipe.
AND they won't fit your helmet in...

Contact Berg at BR Moto directly. There is some issue where the international postage wasn't being calculated correctly, or it tries to use fedex or some other service. It was about $90 postage using US Postal Service, which brought the racks in line with the Andy Strapz. I liked the BR Moto racks for the more rugged looking design and the price was ok even with the exchange rate going south. Jumped on them and am very happy with the result. Like having a rear crash bar, and look good with the SW-Motech crash bars. With the exchange rate as it is right now they'll be approximately AU$400 delivered. Plus there is the BR Moto Top rack available too, say maybe another AU$300 or less perhaps if bought and shipped at the same time.

As TazzieRob stated above I have the Andy Strapz Expedition panniers. These I've owned for about 5 years and swap them between both my bikes depending on which one I'm taking on a trip. I also have the Giant Loop Great Basin bag however I can't get that on the Terra with the Andy Strapz pannier frames. the frames force the bag forward and don't leave enough seat for me. I bought the Great Basin bag for the Terra shortly after I bought the bike, but I've actually used it more on my other bike (a DL1000), onto which it does fit with the H-B pannier frames fitted. Its about the right size for carrying enough gear for an overnighter, or a couple of nights away, but staying in motels. I am very lazy when it comes to camping, and I hate trying to stuff a tent into the tent bag. I usually fill one pannier with the tent and the other pannier with my other stuff, with a bag on the seat if I need more room (but if I'm camping with my wife then my overflow goes in the bag on the seat of her bike.

I like the Andy strapz expedition panniers because you can jam a lot of stuff in them, if you jam it all in the right way. The limitation of the giant loop bags is that they have no flexibility. The shape of the internal available space is fixed, and awkward, and it really takes some skill/practice to get everything in and patience which I lack. The best thing about the giant loop bag is the mounts. Once it's strapped on, it's strapped on. It doesn't move a millimetre. It becomes part of the bike. I reckon you could lift the bike by the bag.

    Hi
. a new owner here, just waiting for one of the last few Terras to arrive. In waiting I have been researching.
Kenma are apparently ?? (nil on website) agents for TCI which have a good report here. Not sure if they ship from US.
Also wondering if Ventura rack (Have a bag) fits with TCI side racks.
I guess its a type of fun, just trying to get the best and not waste money.

I haven't seen any indication of any TR650 owners here having Ventura racks on their bikes. Ventura racks have a fundamental flaw which cannot be corrected which causes them to flex and crack at the point where the rack joins the mount. I have broken every Ventura rack I have owned (these were not on adventure bikes, they were on sports bikes ridden only on the road. They are OK for light loads and short runs on good roads, but any sort of undulations, rough roads, corrugations with any load in the bag on the rack will cause it to fail. For a bike like the TR650, and the sort of riding you will probably want to do with it, you really want luggage which is strapped directly to the bike, as securely as possible.

Thanks nev ...good heads up. Ok Back the drawing board.
Anyone had a good outcome with centrestands (Prob SW Motech),and bash plate/guards . What combo did you get away with??

Haven't bothered with the centre stand, but I got the SW-Motech crash bars after I'd got the B&B Bash Plate. Needed to modify the bash plate and front bracket because they both use the same engine mount bolt, and conflict with space at the front. The Alt-Rider crash bars with B&B Bashy, or SW-Motech crash bars with SW-Motech Bash Plate would be straight bolt on solutions. Easiest would be all SW-Motech, at least you know they have been made to fit together. Do a search though, the Alt-Rider Bash Plate may work with the centre stand

    Hi.
I have just purchased a Ventura Tough rack, which is a beefier version for adventure bikes.
It is steel and a lot stronger than any Ventura rack I have previously owned.
You can also get pannier racks to suit. image.jpg image.jpg

Apparently Adventure Moto, who distribute Wolfman luggage in Aus, are about to release some Australian made Wolfman racks for the TR650. Sounds like Wolfman have decided to stop offering racks going forward and instead sell their universal saddle bag straps that hasenpfeffer showed above.

Hi guys, another new Terra fan. I just bought the Trail Zone project bike as shown in Tazzierob's photo. Waiting for the rego to be transferred before I can take it home and hit the dirt (once the fires finish). Great reading all these threads. Helped me to work out I really wanted the Terra.
