    Does any one know if there is a kick start available with the same splines as as my 81 auto? I find it very difficult to get a good kick as it hits the footpeg, a fold-out type would be the ideal! Also what do you do to stop the melting plastics caused by heat from the exhaust?:banghead:

    Use a high temp silicone liquid gasket sealer to put protective ridges under the plastic. You could also try sticking fiberglass matt on using silicone.

    You should be able to get a pretty decent kick stroke without hitting the footpeg. Are you running the kicker through to get the piston set before giving the starter a full stroke? When the kicker is at rest is it up against it's rubber stop on the engine case?
