So last Tuesday I was at a doctor (trying to fix a screwed up back), and I parked right outside their office, next to a driveway, took note of the car in front of me. I went outside to look for this car and it was right there, parked in that same spot. Pretty sure the cops are not going to care at all. The ones on the phone didnt But I am going to stop and ask them at my local Bomb Squad parking lot tonight.
Back in 1990, I had just bought a brand new FZR600. I was taking it on an errand to get the break in miles on it before a track day in a couple of weeks. I had gone into an office and could see the top half of the bike in the office window. I was waiting for somebody to get something and I would look back at the window every 30 seconds or so to admire my new machine. Finally, one of the times I looked back, the bike wasn't there. I ran out to find a befuddled guy in a blue Ford Taurus looking at my fallen bike. Lucky that I was so close to the bike or he might have driven off too, leaving me or my insurance company to foot the 2400 dollar repair cost. I don't know how much damage that car did to your bike, but I hope it wasn't as much as mine. Too bad there wasn't a high resolution camera to get his license number.
I sure hope you're gonna stake them out and get your $$ from them for any damages.. I'd hafta beat there ass on general principle..
Man, what an ass!! Almost like he was aiming for your bike. Didn't even hesitate on whether or not to stay and leave contact info, just bolted. What a loser. Hope there wasn't too much damage to your bike.
I would definitely confront them. Don't show them the footage, though, in case they decide their car is not identifiable. Just tell them you've got the footage from security, and will be going to the police with it, unless they compensate you for the damage. What a total scumbag...
Definately have a witness with you if it gets ugly when you confront him. A video camera would not be a bad idea.
Ugh! That was painful to watch! I'm really sorry about that. I had my bike knocked over years ago and a witness started arguing with the guy that hit me. He wanted to leave and the witness blocked the guy's car with his own car. If he'd owned up to it with any shred of remorse I would have let him off easy and eaten the turn signal and lived with the one scratched mirror and side panel. Since he was a jerk I made him reimburse me for new signals, a matching set of new mirrors and all new plastics on the left side of my bike. He paid out of his own pocket and it wasn't cheap. Served him right... Good luck with getting the driver to take responsibility for the damages. At least you have proof that your bike was involved in a hit-and-run if you need your own insurance to help you out. WoodsChick

Man Good thing you have it on tape, those soulless a-holes are going to pay :foul: Now I just need to ask, why would you park like you did and not parallel to the sidewalk ? Seems like you in a way tempting fate by inviting some fool to try and shoehorn his box into your spot
And to just drive away too... Maybe there are different methods of doing thing in regards to driving up here in Canada and the US. But if I saw someone actually put on their flashers to parallel park a small car like that...well my first impression would be a novice driver. How much damage was done? Keep us up to date on things.
wow ...looked almost like it was intentional ... I mean, they just drove by and should have seen UR bike... And then they back up and as soon as they hit it, they haul butt off like they already knew what they had struck ... They could have seen the mirrors at least in their rear view mirror as they were backing up ... I hope Ur damage was small .... This is one thing that I have never understood about the states ... motorcycles are forced to act like cars ... the fact that we are smaller and take up 1/8 the space of a 4 wheeler is just wasted ... both in parking and when in traffic ...ESP traffic jams ... Probably illegal to park on the side walk .... and the flashers were a little weird part of the saga ... maybe this was a rookie ...

Don't get me wrong, I think that sucks. But, it didn't look that bad to me. At least the jerk didn't run OVER your bike. Any estimates on damage?
After watching "Boardwalk Empire" tonight on my DVR I would just confront him, beat him down, break his jaw with a good kick to the face take his wallet and then piss on him for good measure and slash his tires while putting a nice long groove down the side of his car....
