250-500cc Backfiring a sign of...?

    My 09 wr300 when kicking fires up and runs just fine. But last couple times its done this "pfft" out the muffler. Bike starts up and runs just fine though. Is this a sign of something or should I be looking at something?

    It's probable excessive fuel ( rich ). Gets a little raw fuel in the pipe, or causes a slow burn that continues until the exhaust port opens.

    you may check all the fittings & make sure they are sealed with some sort of hi-temp gasket maker, especially at the cylinder..... It will suck fresh air in & aid in the backfiring.
