Today is the start of the 50th Score Baja 1000 festivities . Our very own Ty Davis will be piloting the 45X bike in search of yet another team victory. You can watch tracking here: http://trackleaders.com/baja1k17f.php Here is the live broadcast from Score: http://score-international.com
Ty Davis and his team won if you count riding the approved course If you cut off many miles before the finish well then they are second you look at the tracker data and make your own call I say they won
I was watching the tracking towards the end last night and they had a pretty healthy lead on the 1x bike after Puerto Chale . But the 1x tracking stopped working somewhere around mile 1038. Then they were suddenly back on tracking after they passed 45x just before La Paz. If that's the case, then that just sucks. Although the bike speed was down there towards the end of the race for our guys and I'm wondering if they didn't have a problem and had to limp in to the finish allowing 1x to pass and the loss of tracking was just a coincidence.
Apparently it doesn't matter because this little incident at the finish cost 1x a 30 minute penalty to be assessed making 45x the official winner! http://ink361.com/app/users/ig-5547289972/regulatorsracing/photos/1649843235239830944_5547289972
45x they did have a bike issue up until the end. I wont say unless the team says what it was. For sure 1X had a lapse in judgement that cost them the win, a costly mistake.
