    Hello! First time poster here.

I am 5'10" and 140 lbs. I'd call myself a casual trail rider. I currently have a 2008 Suzuki DRZ-125L. The bike is really easy to ride but I'm a little too big for it - it's more for a person just learning to ride and/or a smaller adult. I was thinking about getting a trail bike such as a CRF 230. But then I saw some ads on facebook for blow-out specials on 2013 Husqvarna's and I found a post from some guy claiming to buy a 2013 WR 125 for $3,500. That's actually less than a CRF 230 and is a much lighter bike which I find appealing. I called two local dealers and both were really confused about the pricing and promotion. Neither were aware of the promotion which sounds very odd to me since it is all over facebook. I think there must me a communication breakdown between corporate and dealers. So I have two questions:

    1. Would a WR 125 be a good bike for a casual trail rider like me? Do you have to run these like 125MX bikes? I once had a RM 125 with amazing power (for me) but I found it pretty intimidating.

    2. Anyone actually bought a Husqvarna under this promotion? What price should I be looking for? Basically, there is no way I can afford a $6,000 dirtbike. But if I really could get one for $3,500 I could swing it.

Thanks and this looks like a great community!

Well I also have a dr-z125 that had been over built for racing short track. Yay its fast for a air cooled play bike after spending 2500$ on it. But at the end of the day its still only a play bike.
My wr125 is a real dirt bike right off the floor and I cannot see any other bike at the price you could score one the will come close to one of these. This is a new bike at a used bike price. If you can swing one now would be the time as prices will only go up as time goes on.

Some dealers are playing dumb in order to make an extra $2500 or $3000 off of an un-informed customer. Sure- some husky dealers didn't receive the incentive at all - I'm sure there are terms they must qualify to in order to receive it, but I think most are just playing dumb.

I called and talked to a dealer about it. His 'best price' was $6200 + tax/title, AS SOON as he said the price his manager told him to go on hold, after he came back he said his best price is $5500, and that if I'm serious, come in with cash and we can talk because that price is only on the 2 he had in the store and the price would go up after those 2 sold. I called B.S. I have dealt with that dealer in the past and they can be shady. I bought a YZ 125 off of them that I realized had an oil leak when I got home and it sat over-night. Called them about it and they acted like they didn't know about it. I fought and fought until they agreed to fix it.

Moral of the story - keep calling more dealers, one of them will be willing to work with you.

Timing on inventory is everything with these bikes. If they were bought before incentives then the dealer would lose money big time at $4000, but not if bought under the incentive program. And the next shipment will have a different incentive structure than the last one...so pricing on those 2014 bikes may not be quite as great as on the last batch of 2013s...
The dealer is welcome to try to make, or lose, as much as he wants on any particular bike...and some have been averaging the incentives out to allow discounts on pre-incentive bikes.

Every dealer is in a slightly different situation,so dont ignore your local guy just because he is a couple hundred dollars above the absolute minimum. Its just like watching pickup deals from Ford/Chevy/Dodge (RAM)....they keep moving depending on current circumstances.

And yes the WR is a great trail bike and you dont have to ride it like a 125MX bike, especially if you put the 144 kit on it. Its no 450, but it has a usable powerband.

When I lose 100 lbs Im going to start riding one !

I found mine via CycleTrader back in June. Had to drive 5 hours to the dealer, but to me it was worth it. I'm still waiting for Nevada DMV to send me my OHV decal. It's been 7 weeks since I submitted my application.
