I noticed once when my OEM headlight burned out, that the battery light came on and stayed flashing till I replaced the bulb. Now that I have converted to a 35W HID, it sometimes comes on, and sometimes stays off. Now from what I read, the battery icon in this situation is something of an "Overcharging warning" type deal. Am I going to ruin my battery? Surely other people with HID conversions have this same "issue". I've also just converted the bike to LED brake light and signals... which will reduce the power draw even more. What can I do besides adding electronics to the bike, or just ignoring it, or putting tape over it :P
No worries... the system is "under-loaded" so you get the "overcharge icon" before the regulator kicks off. That's a cool light by the way, how bright is it?? I went to a Baja designs 55w halogen and that had enough pull to keep the icon off. Now I've gone to a Voyager computer and love it. You can add all of the electronic accessories you want, that will keep the icon off and you still have plenty of wattage to drive it all. Or put the tape over it and hit the trail. Either way you have nothing to worry about, go have fun man.....
