If any of you saw my thread about trying to find a new 2T bike to get the last of the CA Red Stickers it was a long road to get here. Husky didn't think it was a big deal and probably missed a huge opportunity to sell more bikes. However Beta USA was smart. They knew the demand would still be there and wisely purchased extra 2021 CA Vins and put plans into place to send "late production" bikes here to Commie Land. How did I find out about this? Simple, I just emailed Beta USA. While KTM North America blew me off and to just wait for a 22, Tim and Frank with Beta took me seriously and kept me in the loop with these late production bikes. I got the call in August about this bike. I called Simi Valley Cycles right away and put the deposit down. That was after I convinced them to look into their pending Beta orders for a bike they didn't know was coming yet. So after 10 months of waiting and hoping, here she is...
I've already bolted some goodies on with more to come. I'll be supporting 7602 Racing with set of his awesome Rad Braces, but for now I've added the FMF TC 2.1 so I'm sparky legal and hand guards, frame guards with grip and front disc cover from my long time supporters at Acerbis USA. And I'm taking it to the Zip-Ty HQ for some suspension and carb magic, plus other things in the works.
He is! He was able to schedule me a factory tour outside of Florence a few years back.... I was not able to do it though... it's my understanding they are no longer offered...
Tim and Beta USA are amazing. I'm just an almost 50yr old support racer and I feel like I've got Factory backing. While I will always love my Huskies I'm really pumped to be on the Beta. Rockdancer, it's like riding a gas powered mountain bike. So light with damn near the power of my old 250, but so much snappier. This bike is carburating really clean for stock jetting.
Yeh - I am thinking a Beta 200 is a good choice for me too. Not really wanting the size of a 250/300 bike - but wanting some good torque and top end. Can you get a pipe guard for it ? - sure to get a dent in that
the Beta 200 RR is awesome 2 of my crew have them, they are older guys that have gone from 60-70s era Bultacos through the gamut of 250/300 2T and 250/350/450 4Ts. Both guys are reborn with the easy simple Beta 200RR Race models. Tim's has the full boat Beta USA suspension package as well and a Fresco pipe.
Yep, P3 makes one for the stock chamber. It's already got desert pin stripes on it from freestyle blip and rip through the creosote. I'm not in a hurry to change too much until I get more time on it. I haven't quite rung it's neck yet though either.
Ive heard that they have better top end than the old KTM 200. Less of a mid range hit . That sounds good to me as I didnt like the 09 KTM 200 at all. Not many Race models around my way . A few of the oil injected ones . I guess main difference are the forks? Im tossing up between a 150 TPI , 250 TPi or a Beta 200 . Great bike - congrats.
I was looking for a 250tpi bike too at first. But I gotta say I'm happy with the carby so far. If you can get the "rego" for one even the race edition comes with the switch gear and full harness. I don't have indicators but I do have working horn and brake light switches front and rear.
the 200 beta is alot different than the 200 ktm was. its more like a 250 and is a torqey beast. it is a brilliant single track weapon
Got my bike back from Zip-Ty on Tuesday. Went with .46 springs up front, no way the stock .42 was gonna work for me. 5.8 out back with a good progressive stack. Added my AXP skid plate last night and the BRP vibration isolated bar clamp/Scotts submount goes on today after work. Then it's off to our work weekend for the first round of the D37 Sprint Enduro series. We have to burn it in a little so after we get it ribboned, we gonna go rip it.
Just a follow up after the work and race weekends. This thing makes me feel like a whole new rider. With our 3 distinctly different tests for the Sprint Enduro I got to test it in deep soft sand, 3-4th WFO and into a 90 turn and then another right after, 6th pinned into rock sections, and our 3rd test which was an amusement park ride through rocks, single track and tight spots. It did it all and did it well even with my fat slow butt on board. During work weekend my son's and I went and rode the 2&3 tests Sunday after setting up on 1 on Saturday. I had so much fun on test 3, I went back out and rode it again. It's been a while since a bike made me feel like a kid again and Beta has just nailed it with this bike.
I love (mostly) my 250RR but if I knew a 200 was coming Beta I probably would have held out for it. Tim at Beta definitely takes care of their customers. I bought my bike used as an ex factory bike and found the frame to be cracked upon tear down. Sent Beta USA an email asking if anything could be done and they said just take the info to my nearest dealer and they would get me a new frame. Which they did with no issue at all.
Well the cherry has been popped! Entered my first race in 2 years and got me a 2nd in a Dual Euro Scramble. I literally installed my graphics and the pipe guard after getting home from a cross country flight on a Friday night, sleep deprived from travel. Was originally going to race Saturday and Sunday but the need for sleep took over and I decided to cruise out Saturday morning and race Sunday only. Here's some shots of it all dolled up in the field
