Ok, I will kick this off! I have a friendly place I can talk about Beta Enduro motorcycles. I just love this sight, it is easy to use and most everyone is friendly and cordial. Nothing much to say about my Beta tonight except they work great right out of the box and I am now going to start tuning some on the suspension and power valve settings. I will remind everyone now that Beta is a 100 year old family owned Italian company building great motorcycles for anyone that likes the pizazz and beauty of Italian craftsmanship. So excited, I don't have to leave my home! GP
Next year sometime I will buying a new bike, and it is going to be between a Husky FE501 or a Beta RR498 Factory Edition. I'm doing a KTM test ride in 2 weekends so should get an idea of what the Husky will be like - though I know the Husky will have linkage rear suspension which will make a difference, but I expect it's 4CS forks to be very good. And then in a month I'm doing a Beta ride day where I expect to try their RR350, RR450, and RR498. I believe the standard Beta uses Sachs forks whereas the Factory Edition used 'Zokes with a DLC (Diamond Like Coasting) which are a lot better. I have read far more good things than bad things about the Beta's so I'm hopeful it'll be an impressive ride. When I bought my current Husky (2010 TE450) I was adamant it HAD to be fuel injected coz it was the future imo. Well, given the problems I've had with my bike this year I am now questioning whether my opinion was a wise one. The carb is a proven technology that works. Also, I believe the carb gives the engine better bottom end power which is the engine power range I am a big fan of. It's one of the reasons I prefer the idea of a big bore bike over a lighter 250 or 350 which are a little more mid to top end power biased. One of the mates I ride with has the old Beta RR525 which uses the KTM RFS2 motor (I believe) and he just cannot speak highly enough about how good the bike is. And I believe him coz he is damned quick on it! I'm beginning to think the Beta's are going to go some way to filling the niche that Huskies used to cater for. That's not to say the new Huskies won't evolve to fill that gap again themselves. That being said, this is Cafe Husky and not Cafe Husky and Beta, so I'm not sure how much traction this thread is going to get. Nice idea though imo.
Burson rode a MX set up Beta 250/300 at the Mammoth Mtn Moto X 1 stroke championship. It can be managed with all the standard MX dial ins. http://motocross.transworld.net/100...moth-mountain-motocross-two-stroke-challenge/ results?? very hard to find?
Beta does not try to push leading edge technology at this point, they build rock solid stuff that just plain works and keeps working. Beta has EFI ready to go if they need it at least for the 4t's, but for now they sure know how to jet a carburetor. They are starting to get serious on the racing front, Cody Webb has won the Tennessee Knockout and the last two Enduro-x's, Purvines Racing is doing very well out west, and now they have signed Johnny Aubert for the World Enduro Championship. I have also heard a rumor they are talking to a top rider for GNCC. No, I don't see this site becoming the go to place for Beta riders, but I like it because I have been a part of this place since 2009 and I am having a hard time leaving! PS I still have two Italian Huskies that I ride, can't seem to give them up either.
For the 2014 WEC season, Beta has secured the services of French Enduro Ace Johnny Aubert (former MX/SX rider). Beta is not goofing off...they are right in the mix.
Just talked with a Beta dealer here in Illinois about a 350rr. What is this, the late season bug that bit me??? LOL I like the build your Beta idea. Saves some cash up front for springs and such.
Assuming you can find them. Having a wr300 i am always aware where the new wr300 s are for sale. Seems like they are all but gone now.:-/
I do like the Beta's. Now that a Beta is 100% Beta. Thank goodness they make their own motors. I really wasn't a fan when they had KTM motors in them. I think we all agree that there is nothing else like a fine Italian dirt bike.
True. I think Beta now makes some motors for KTM. I could be wrong, but I thought I read that somewhere.
True they make the kids bikes. Wonder if they make the 85's too. If so, then they make it for the new Husky which means there are still Italian Husky's
