I know we have a few Beta converts on list and the lower seat height is really attractive to me. I Would like to hear some feedback from any riders in the north east (if possible) on the 2015 Enduro RR300. I'm currently ridding a 2012 310 and it's been good but the hours are getting up there.
I ride a 2014 and am old and short, rode YZ250 2Ts for years converted to off-road. The Beta works very well in the mountains of NW Montana, it does demand rider input to be ridden aggressively. My only complaint is the harshness of the Sachs forks, but have had to revalve most suspension on previous bikes anyway. Build quality is excellent, seat is hard as a board, starter is outstanding, power is mostly low/mid which works great for the woods but limits it on the MX track, nice to have lights and a PLATE, mileage is decent for a 2T after jetting for my area and dropping the float a smidgen - in short, I love it.
Do your own research, but our crew has 3 among us with Beta300RR all are standard models 1 guy is the local Beta dealer the other 2 are customers all are super stoked with these machines. They work really well, seems the tougher the trail gets the better they work, all appear to be very bullet proof. One of our crew rides his to work everyday a few miles back and forth. 2 are 13s and dealer's is a 14 Dealer is C&D Cycles in San Diego. Just in case you want to converse about the Beta brand Steve is the owner. http://www.shopsocalmotorcycleparts.com/index.htm
I love my 2014. I put my Lectron on it from my 2009 WR300 rode 67 miles and never hit reserve. I am 5'10" and the low seat height really suits me. There is already a ton of after market support for this bike bike. The fork is ok but sooner or later I will revalve it , has the same great sachs shock. Ignition has 2 maps-adjustable power valve, super smooth powerband good owner and repair manual online and cd. the factory jetting chart has been spot on for others. For casual trail rider like my self it is a great bike and the least expensive of the 300cc 2t out there by 1000.00 bucks.
Sounds good to me. thanks everyone. I know there are a few in south Jersey so hopefully I find one to test ride. I'm still not sure on going back to a 2 stroke is right for me plus the pro/cons of a 250 vrs 300 but that's the fun of the hunt.
I rode one in tight woods a while back and really liked it. Smooth motor, plush suspension, nice natural feel. Felt kinda big but I was on a husky 125 so... Rode Kevins 250 at the NW gathering, he had it setup kinda weird for me but liked it for all the same reasons. Seems like they are setup for technical stuff and not as well for fast stuff.
One major consideration on the Beta is the pricing of parts. I was thinking about another Beta (I had a 498) but decided on the Husky for several reasons and one being Parts availability (Beta parts are available, but not a ton of aftermarket) and parts pricing (a OEM '14 Race Edition and all '15 300 replacement forged pistons are $350 + retail) You mentioned that they are about $1000 cheaper? MSRP of a stock bike is cheaper than the Husky, but not by $1,000. They are nice bikes and the 2-strokes have been pretty good on reliability. They feel smaller than the other manufacturers out there and you don't see them everywhere. If you have a support network for the Beta give it a try. You will enjoy it like you would most any bike these days. Betarider.org is a good site like this site. Everyone seems to be helpful and willing to provide experiences and tips. Thumpertalk's beta section reminds me of a career fair where everyone is competing to be top dog. One-Up Central and just an all around bad vibe in there. If you have any specific questions I'll help anyway that I can.
Be350ka and others thanks. I'm not THAT close to buying and the parts availability is an issue but in my area around the Philly PA/southern New Jersey we have a few dealers. Just searching the list of Beta dealers you can see most aren't the size of Husky but I've had my issues sourcing parts for the 2012 pre KTM model I have and it's not getting better as one can imagine. I also don't have a really local dealer and both Husky and Beta would be about an hour ride. As for aftermarket parts it looks like daily new companies are coming on board but now that KTM/Husky are together I'm sure Beta will never compare. you'll never find me on Thumpertalk I'm sure it's got lots of good info but the members as you pointed out just don't seem genuine.
Some like the suspension, some don't, not sure anyone has ever built a bike that everyone loves the suspension. Great build quality, runs great right out of the crate and very durable. Has a very light and flickable feel. Motor is very linear. PV is easily adjusted on the trail. Parts are no problem to get, although not cheap. Bike is probably best suited for technical or casual trail riding, but will go fast with reworked suspension. GP
I'm somewhat surprised at some of the comments regarding parts and the TT comment, not disagreeing - just surprised. As with any brand specific forum you will have diehard fans of their brand who will overlook just about anything AND you will have those that had some problems (bike, dealer, supplier and specific to the rider) that will tell you it is just junk, but as far as the bike I have likes and dislikes with it. Having ridden YZ 2Ts for most of my 40+ yrs of riding I have tried to take those comments in stride and adapt to the bike. As far as the bike at speed, I've been beaten by guys on xr200 s and beaten guys on far more exotic rides. I have found Betariders.org and the Beta specific forum on TT to provide a great deal of info ie: the $350 piston kit can be had for much less if you do your homework just as it is with other brands of bike. I think the most comments have to do with the forks, or at least that is the one I notice - most likely due to my experience with them. But I can't think of many that I've had in recent years that I didn't rework, no different with the Beta. Okay, I'll step down off the resident soapbox.
GP, I noticed you sell both Husky and Beta something in this area hard to find in one dealer. Gota ask you're thoughts on the two 300's and you're dealings between the two companies. Joe
