125-200cc bigger silencer options

Just wondering if anyone has fitted a silencer from another bike to quieten down the 125
eg 250 silencer modified to fit
or any fresh ideas on an aftermarket silencer
Noise is the only thing that annoys me on the bike after a while and had a few comments from others.
Will try repacking original extended WR silencer as well

My stock wr125 silencer when freasly packed only makes 86db when held flat out so really isnt that noisy.
out of all the silencers I have tried a ktm 250 / 300 fmf that is from the ktm power parts line is the one that makes the least noise but it is a big long silenencer and is definatly not a direct fit, stinger needs shortening and mounts need to be made as it is a two bolt item, Made no real difference to the power output and the expansion chamber ringing made more noise when ridden than noise coming from the ass end to the ears so maybe worth looking at a few fmf items.
I use a carbon gianelli silencer with the core from a fmf silencer and thats nearly as silent as the fmf
The fmf perforated core has many more holes but smaller than most other silencers and I think this has something to do with there good performance levels and lack of noise

I have fitted a Q-Stealth for a YZ125 to a 165 and it made a noticeable difference over the TCII. Just like any silencer if you don't keep the packing reasonably fresh it will get louder.

Only part of that silencer I still have is the body and the end caps -The core is in my giannelli - the stinger is on my mate Trigs 125 on a dep silencer that was from a gas gas I think and the rubber mounting grommets are on my 525 ktm as I bought a fmf for it that strangly had no rubbers fitted when delivered from the States
Have a look around ebay there has to be something that looks close to fitting
If you do find something close get a late model ktm pipe mount and if you bolt it to the Husky mount you get swing of around 3" of mounting point adjustability fore and aft giving more range to get things to fit

Making the one fit that I worked with, I was only able to use one mount. It fit up pretty well otherwise. I was using it on an 04 CR125, so a different frame from yours. You might have to do something like a universal hoop clamp. If you have someone who is handy with aluminum welding it probably would be pretty easy to relocate one of the mounts and make it all work. It does make a noticeable difference.

i got the q stealth from my 300 you can have for postage cost if you want it mate? its been shortened so no SA & i held it up against my powercore 2 on my 125 yday-similar length but q stealth much fatter & exhaust hole much bigger diameter. dunno if that affects anything but thicknees should absorb a heap of sound! packing only few rides old & done properly with steel wool round core then matt packing. its the one i had warrantied by fmf a coupla years ago but i kept it & had it rewelded. weld has a tiny crack in it again from 300 mounts being shit & too thin a material. be fine on the 125 with thicker mounts i reckon as wouldnt stress it much. easy fix if you can weld ally but probably doesnt even need it. stinger just needs moddin. got the powercore 2 & gnarly combo so dont need it anymore. got the stock wr300 silencer too if you want that to play with as well? let me know & ill text ya a photo if u want

Anyone know an easy way or even a way of getting the end cap off the muffler on one of these newer pipes ?

If your referring to the factory husky wr muffler, I use an old screwdriver that has a handle diameter that fits nicely inside the end cap. Insert the handle into the end cap and work the end cap in all directions. Then wedge the handle against the side of the end cap while pulling up gently. Be careful not to put your face over the screwdriver in case it slips out, I have the muffler mounted at eye level, vertically in a vice so this can't happen. While working the end cap around use a soft hammer or rubber mallet to GENTLEY tap around the muffler where the screws fit to ease the process. Be patient and gently and you'll get it with no damage and only minor bad language.

Now the packing is stuck in there - how'd you get that out ?
Trying to loosen around it and pull but its well stuck

I can most of it out but its hard to get to when you cant remove the baffle ?

3 piece mufflers are better

Spray it with cheap WD40 and let it soak then long screwdriver and pry off the side, give it a good tap upside down over the vice and it should all fall out.

To get the packing out try making a hook out of some strong wire, a spoke from the kids bicycle will do lol. Run it down between the outer casing and the packing, turn it 90 degrees and pull it out. Little by little you'll gut the sucker.
Agreed, it's not the easiest design to work with.

ive had good luck getting out the handheld propane torch and heating things abit. softens the 2 stroke gum and lets things come apart easier.
