Hi just wondered if you guys use the chain split pin instead of burring over the chain link that joins the chain.

Is there a tool for helping getting the split pin on, and a tool to press the links together so you can slide it on.

I have a tool for splitting a chin link

How do you guys deal with joining your chain?

If I'm reading what you're asking right, then I have a knock off brand tool (It was something like $20 USD on sale) like this I use. I've got through a few tips though, it also works for timing chains on 4 strokes if you get the right one.

Use it one way to break the chain, another to rivet the chain (if it's a rivet type link), and then it also has a press piece, which I find very useful in pressing the masterlink plate in evenly and squishing the o-rings to get the clip to go right in.

I think you are asking about master link chains vs. riveted chains. I use master link chains on all my dirt bikes.

For all-purpose chain work, I use the Motion Pro shop tool:

This works on master link and riveted chains, and breaks as well as assembles. You still need to grind the heads of a riveted chain before pressing the pin(s) out.

Motion Pro. I have the Regina one also, but it sucks. That's why I bought the Motion Pro.

++ for motion pro. Easy to use and you can purchase parts separately if you happen to lose or break anything.
