what the hell is happening with my bike…???? you will hear it sort of break down as the revs increase.

it was doing this as a 144 so after doing heaps to rectify it, i converted it to a 165 with lectorn carb. i measured the coil up and it was out of spec so i replaced that but same issue remains. same issue is still evident. so bike has new topend, power valves, carb and coil.

i am thinking it is electrical, ruled out most mechanicals to it.
    could the stator be rooted?

    cheers lads...

    Multimeter on 200 - ohms
what resistance do you get between the black /white wire and light blue wire ( pulse wire from stator)
Mine is 130 ohms - should be around that

I am not sure if the rectifier/regulator can do that as well. It converts the AC current to DC
There is only one yellow wire thats on that - I think youd have to run bike to get a reading of what current is coming from it .

Have anymore luck with this Matt?
The bike certainly sounds funky as the revs climb

ensure you have an R plug.

From memory Matt didn't have an R plug but some other variation that should be similar.
Perhaps he does have the the BREG plug now.
    Strange what ever it is.

echo Joe Chod, make sure your plug is correct AND the gap is correct. i chased something similar forever and it ended up being the plug gap!

what do your reed petals look like?
the r in a plug reading is referance to it being a resistor plug, if you have a resitor plug cap you dont need a resisted plug, that being said its only to suppress rf inteferance.
if these brake down it usually just kills the enging not top end,
could be a crossfire issue. change the ht lead and plug cap if you are suspecting anything.

I had some issue with my WR250 that was blocking the RPMs also ...It was the plug cap. You can bend it around as you REV it to verify no issues or just wrap it in electrical tape and see if that helps any.

It can detect that you are not wearing protective clothing and is limiting the speed to minimise injury

pull the fly wheel and check the stator, check the earth leads etc almost sounds like a bad earth or power valve issue have you checked that the valve is opening correctly with the side cover removed and engine running.

I think he has sorted it as being an issue with the wiring from the stator ( possible cross wiring)

Yeah, pretty sure it was either a couple if stator wires shorting (no sign of contact though), dodgy frame earth or dirty loom contacts. Anyway, its finally fixed and I'm loving the 165/ lectron combo.
