The annual Ventura county motorcycle club dual sport ride was last weekend, anyone who has ridden in Bishop knows how epic the riding and scenery is. Anyone who has not ridden Bishop I highly recommend this event. The terrain is very diverse and the elevation changes are dramatic. Thanks to Zip-Ty for the rebuild they did to my motor, I didn't have any engine trouble after over 200 hard earned miles!
We rode through the Bristle Cone Forest via Silver Canyon, then out Black Canyon back to Bishop on Friday. Saturday we did Coyote Canyon then out to Papose Flats and 395 back to Bishop. Sunday we did the entire Black Canyon loop. Some of the trails we didn't get to went all the way to June Mtn. and Mammoth.
Do you have any of the gps files of the routes? Would like to head up one of these days before the snow's deep.
That's ok...it's twice as good now! I love love love the Eastern Sierra! It's a special place, for sure. Did you see any bighorn sheep in Silver Canyon? I've never seen so many in one place before. Super cool terrain! Also, the highest paved road in California is out there...the paved section that goes out towards the White Mt Research Station.
Here's some maps you can buy or get free from the Ranger Station. CTUC California Trail Users Coalition. Motorized and non-motoried trails. All over California. http://www.ctuc.info/ctuc/index.php/maps Very good maps... the Inyo and Bishop Area BLM map is avail at the Mammoth Ranger Station free. Says $3 on my copy. Also Forest Service maps of Roads. http://www.fs.usda.gov/wps/portal/f...ctdetail&pname=Inyo National Forest- Projects
You know I didn't really see any wildlife, it think it may be because of my FMF pipe is not the Q4. I'm sure the critters heard me comming a mile away.
