How similar are this bikes? Is it just the engine design that is similar?

I've been offered a skid plate from an X-Challenge and I'm curious if it will work.

I've confirmed it will not work but I'm still curious what other parts might be compatible if any. I am aware of the compatibility thread but if curious if anyone has ever examined the two bikes side by side.

I have a x-challenge & it was only offered in 2007. Probably not a lot the same other than brake pads & maybe tires.

I owned an X-Challenge and have a Terra.
They do have the same basic engine platform (BMW/Rotax) and are similar in appearance only .
More parts interchange with the BMW G650GS and previous F650GS (single cylinder) than with the X series bikes.
BMW "tried" to make that bike light and a lot more higher cost specialty parts are on it.

There are quite possibly small items like clutch and throttle cables that'll swap and some brake parts as well but that's about it. As said, It shares more (interchangable) parts with the F 650 rather than the G 650 X series.
We currently have one of everything in the garage so I had some good looks at this sort of stuff.

How would you compare the two? As in riding on-road, off-road, weight/feel when at speed, suspension, etc?

The X-series have some affordable aftermarket exhaust options. There'd be some rigging to make it fit but I'd wager the airflow should be about right for our engines as well.

Are the wheels interchangeable? I'd like to find a 17" X-Moto wheel...

The X-Challenge/X-Country wheels are not a direct fit on our bikes like the G650GS/F650GS wheels are.

The X-Moto wheels were not even a direct swap with the X-Challenge/X-Country.
They were from some Aprilla model if I remember and only fit the X-Moto.

I know some folks have done conversions to swap them, but I think it takes making up some parts.
