Ive just had my bike about a month and im already wearing the paint off the frame with my boots. Does anyone have a solution for this? No biggy I just had for a brand new bike to have missing paint.
Husky Sport sells some longer plastic guards to prevent this. I have tried Skate Board tape on a WR and that did not last too long. I now have some Factory Eeffex clear no slip tape I am trying out. Don't have a picture at the moment.
Get some black kydex and make your own. Use zip-ties to affix. http://www.rickramsey.net/TE310mods.htm Scroll down for kydex info.
I got a set for my 2007 Husqvarna WR250 from AD-Tek Products out of the UK.. Needed a little tweaking for a perfect fit.. I happy.. P.S. Items also listed on Ebay UK.. Seller: Ad-Tek Products.. Year for some models seemed off.. Make sure you get the correct year..
That's what you get for being so fast! If you putted around like an old man (like me), your paint would be safe!
Heat. Hair dryer probably. I sort of remember Rick Ramsey saying how he did it. Likely cut a pattern with something flexible, the transferred it and put it on the frame after warming it up with a hair dryer. Here's info about using kydex to make a holster... http://www.paracordsecrets.com/articles/35/article.html I checked and you can get kydex in colors, incl. white (how white I'm not sure) and about $12 for a foot square piece that's .125 thick. That should make about 4 protective pieces for the frame, at least. http://www.interstateplastics.com/Ivory-Kydex-T-62015-Sheet-KYDV5T1.php
WARNING wise crack.... Why worry??? it gives the bike character, and if no corrosion forms it means you are riding the bike plenty and not letting it sit around.
I don't no why, but it bothers me. The funny thing is that my bike is impossible to keep looking good for very long.
Get some clear 3M tape that is used on cars to prevent paint chips on the rockers etc. It's cheap, lasts a long time, comes in a 10' roll and is available at just about any auto parts store . I even stuck some over top of my peeling Husky decals.
I bought some Kydex from an online hobby store going to try and make a set. To mold the Kydex you put it in the oven at about 200 deg. makes it really plyable so you can bend it and shape it and it cools to that shape. Double sided tape under should hold it in place. I am afraid zip ty's would slide down or break from rubbing over time. Look up Kydex on Youtube for some tips on how to mold it. Guys use it to make knife and gun holsters.
