What are you guys using for oil?
I'm using Castrol 10/40 motorcycle oil and changing it every 2-4 racing hours.
How often do you change yours?
Oil is getting expensive and I'm wanting to get more hours out of it or buy it cheaper somehow.
Everytime I change it, it still looks like new.

were talking about 2 stroke tranny oil right?

since 2 strokes get the oil for their bottom ends from the pre-mix in your gas.

I'm using rotella 15/40 also, and have been since 2008. I have used ATF-F in the past with great results also. No problems noted with either, but Im just waiting for me and my bikes to burst into flames for using a non moto specific oil. Lol

I use cheap diesel oil in everything. Wife and kids 4 strokes, street bike and my smokers transmissions. No problems...ever.
I was using Rotella 15-40, but recently switched to Mobil Delvac 15-40 cause my 300 was finding a lot of false neutrals with the Rotella.

I usually go 10hrs between oil changes, but I've gone as long as 17hrs with no ill effects.

Me too. Used to use Rotella but found the Mobile equivalent seems to shift better.

I use this stuff, cheap, works great and my long time mechanic / engine builder freind sware by it after hundreds of race motor builds and rebuilds. Two stroke trans, 4 strokes, cars, trucks, i run it in everything, lots of miles, lots of bikes, no issues. IMHO most all modern name brand oils are up to the task.

Changing 2 stroke transmission oil every 2-4 hours is way too conservative. If using a good quality oil you can easily go 20-30 hours. I've changed it at 20 hours and it was still clean. I've gone as much as 35 hours with no ill effects.

Rotella, changed every 15-25 hours.... Still comes out looking pretty good.

+1 to above, my TM Racing 125 manual states to change the gearbox oil, twice a season...although I do change it by feel, more false neutrals or notchy/hard shifts then time to change.

Most of my two strokes have a sight glass, so I just look at that after each ride. When the oil finally looks dirty, that's when I change it.
