hey guys my bike just arrived and I put it together i charge the battery put the ignition key in try to start it and the dash just says EWS after It tried to go through checks.I have one key the guy is sending me the other one he forgot to ship it is it possible that it's the key that I have or is it definitely the immobiliser or the key ring antenna anyone know a fix for this or any informationThanks
Do you have a picture of the key? I just got a new key today for my bike, and the first time it threw the ews code. I removed the key and walked away, and when I came back it worked. Try that.
Also, check every plug and connection. The antenna ring on the ignition is sensitive. There are a couple of other things can throw the code, and others may join in soon. I never did a setup of a bike like this, and you may need both keys for the initial setup, maybe call a Husky dealer who sets them up and ask them. They do not need to be hooked up to the Moss to run from the factory. But the ecu may not know what are appropriate keys to use until it is initialized.
Tried that walk away from the bike overnight and nothing. It is flashing UG 004 or it could be U6 004
I do not see an ews error. That is the husky key, I was wondering if he sent you copies without the immo chip. The UG is US gallons. If you switch it ti IG, that is imperial gallons. you are out of gas. When it is flashing I think is in the "set" mode. The owners manual has a procedure to set this up. You set the clock and other stuff up at this time. I'm so gunshy, I will not retry to set my clock, can't really read it anyway. Not a simple thing. I messed mine up so bad I had to unhook the battery and let the circuits drain down and try again. Does you starter button work? When you turn the key on you should hear the fuel pump prime.
That is a good dash. EWS can flash or appear then go away. If there is an ews problem it stays lit and nothing else. I was goofin on my bike to see what else I could suggest, and the kill switch comes into play. Look around that and the connectors, make sure button is out. The motor will not turn with the button in. When you turn the key, you should get some sounds. The dash should fire up and tach peg and receed. The fuel pump should run and stop, and the instrument cluster does make some sound. If you get a click when you push the starter, you probably have a clutch, kickstand or neutral interlock engaged. If you get nothing when hitting the starter, it is probably the kill button. Try a few things and report back on the sounds etc. Or let us know how it drives. I checked again on the fuel--1 Imperial gallon = 1.20095042 US gallons Ug is US gallon, IG is imperial gallon, but what it shows is what you used (after reseting), not the other way like I earlier thought. When you press and hold it clears to 0. If you monkey with it too much, it can reset the whole console to metric, happened to me.
Update: the EWS stays lit. Sooo, called the dealer where the bike was purchased, they were back in forth with KTM for a few hours. KTM told me take to my local dealer have them call KTM, and KTM will back me up if its serious. It sounds like it is because i troubleshot with the tech for like 2 hours over the phone who was talking to KTM while talking to me and no joy so I'm going to follow KTMs orders and drop it off tomorrow hopefully they fix within 2-3 weeks. I'm itching to ride the f*cking thing. I had a 2006 610SMR never had an issue only changed the oil.
This may or may not help you but check this plug under the cowling. Mine was loose (plugged in but not tightly) and throwing a two flash error then it would go solid and wouldn't start.. I had intermittent problems with same result prior to this but it always went away. I had removed the headlamp to install a new LED bulb and got the error again. This time I used the schematic and traced the harness from the battery forward and when I got to this plug, I tested it for being seated properly. It was not. I had never had occasion to move it, or mess with it before. So, I am assuming it was like that from the factory. I pushed it together properly and and no more errors. Just an aside, the wire to the antenna ring is very taught. Treat this with respect and be careful with messing about with the plug because the antenna ring is broken easily. If you break it, your bike will be sitting for a while.
yep did that before I took it to the dealer and they double checked it. ktm told to bring it all the way to Orlando because they are the only dealer in the state of Florida with a MOSS for Husqvarna. KTM said they will warranty all work and parts just have to get it there. its 4 hour drive one way. but if it that's what it take to get it up and running, then it is what it is. After that i'll a good bike with 1 mile ready to put more on after this ordeal.
