The elder statesman Paul Edmondson is still the best rider technically, watch his brake and throttle control before the water crossing, unreal. Always in control and quick, he proves you can go slow to go fast. This type of racing in the U.S. would be a winner. The interesting thing with the racers in The British realm is their trails backgrounds, watch the body movement of Paul as opposed to Greg Evans. Some of our boys ought to slide over for a little competition with the worlds best enduro riders. Good stuff.
Don't get me wrong, those are some fantastic riders and that's a great video, but riding enduros here in PA back in the 80's and one in 2008 when I first got back into riding, that seems like wide open terrain for an enduro. After an enduro here you can walk through the mountain and you know exact "handlebar height" because the bark is knocked off all the the trees from guys trying to get between trees 31" apart at speed. Is that typical enduro material for Europe? Heck, I've never ridden outside PA except for one in NJ, so for all this small-town guy knows, this is typical enduro terrain all over??? I'm just used to rocks, logs, stumps, roots, mud, tight trees, and rocks....I said rocks twice because that's mostly what we have here in PA
I'd agree from the camera's veiwpoint & location it looks wide open, a little bumpy & rutted, but open. Looks like great dirt, old woods, & a lot of fun. My favorite shots may be the end of the long straight, going into a right hander. Watching the riders body english & the suspension working hard makes me want to leave work & go ride.
I have followed the British Enduros for yrs., one thing they all share is the technical aspects of the courses. No triple jumps and 12 and 90 ft. table tops, defintely not as dangerous as the WORC. You'll notice a big uptick in our NEPG enduros. I've seen the WORC races and they are boring compared to these and the WEC enduro's. It's also fun for all who enter, which is a big deal there where they only ride their bikes at these events, fair play is the equation. Notice the different brands and 2-strokers, TM even. I've been around the events some and it is very much different from here, our riders here would really enjoy the courses and the people. Anyway my take.for what ever........... Mud too. I've watched that right hander also, the corner speed carried is topnotch. You can tell the different training in the way each rider uses their own technique,Aston Bird and Whatley are MX'ers for shur. Edmondson still blows me away, 42yrs.,
Was reading an article a while ago that explained this new style of Enduro events. These shorter "special stage" events are an attempt to make the British riders better preppared for ISDE events. Their riders traditionaly have not done well at the "special stage" portion of ISDE events. By all acounts they have been well recieved by both riders, spectators and event orginizers.
That video is riding "NIRVANA", a track with no rocks or dust, i am soooo jealous! The lads were really flying too, the video wouldn't do the speed justice!
