Build up on stator

    I recently redid the gasket and rtv'd the grommet on the stator cover on my TE to stop the oil leak that I've read is pretty common on these bikes and in doing so noticed this dark build up on my stator. Does anyone have insight on what it is, what the cause is or what the fix is? 20201110_190859.jpg

    What is that a sign of, damage to the rings or cylander walls? Gear damage maybe?
