Well here we go again another ex Husky supported racer with out a Husky ride goes
to another company and does well.
Nic Burson now rides for Purvine racing a team of about 10 racers all on BETA

So this past weeken at round one of the District 37 Desert season Nic Burson on a new Beta
4 stroke lines up with 327 other racers to take the start.According to the results and times posted on MotoTally at the end of the first 37 miles at the pits Nic was leading by 50 seconds. Then 40 miles later at the finish Nic was 7 min ahead of second place.Another Purvine racer also on a Beta
finished 16 overall winning the Vet expert class.
Say what you want about Desert racing but I will tell you one thing Every American who has ever done well in Baja has raced District 37 Plus the last few weeks everyone has been watching what happens at the Dakar race.Well once again as far as I know every American who has EVER gone to Dakar and done well has raced District 37 This year we have a few Americans doing well and they are all Desert Racers from Southern Calif You know the place where Husky open there new corporate offices.
It is just so sad that Husky has no Race Supported Team and really no real open class bike to race.Husky HAD Nic Burson who with the Help of Ty Davis and Zip Ty racing were able to make the 449 win Now no one races one anywhere need the top
As for Husky at the first Desert race of the 2013 season I was the first Husky to finish at 61 overall at 56 years old at least I will keep trying.I rode my 300 2 stroke.According to the results posted on MotoTally the next Husky to finish was 172 overall then 182 and 190
There were 3 Husky that DNF So out of 7 bikes entered 3 DNF that does not look good
There were 2 Beta in the race and both of them won there class
What a way to start the season
If Husky keeps talking about a new product line for 2014 well lets hope so Because now Beta is the new talk of the town and KTM is still the # 1 selling offraod bike
Now lets see if Husky will even respond Any one want to send this to the NEW Corporate Office
now located in southern Calif .You know the place where we race all year

First off, congratulations on riding and finishing so well ... I'm 2 yrs behind you and my riding not getting any easier for me yet :) ... I'm going to try some new clothing with white coloring to help cool my engine next...

Second, reality sucks sometimes but its all most of us have ... The rest are fools or liars or just so un-curious, we do not seem to care ...maybe the latter is the best option ...

The 2T race in GH seems like a good card to play ... And I've said it before here ... The new dirt bike line will force bmw hand to be laid out on the table for the Husqvarna Company...

I gotta say you guys are acting like brand fanatics (we are) and are pushing a very one sided point of view. Racing has changed somewhat manufacturer corporate involvement is no longer the norm its the exception.

Robert you are correct but Purvine Racing use to Race Kaw with some Factory support Now Kaw has given all there off road support money to a supercross racer who as of yet for 2013 has not won a race.
So answer this why did Purvine racing go with a small company like Beta From what I have been told all the bike were purchased, yes they get some Factory help but not much. Why did they Purvine not go with Husky? Does Husky even make a open class 4 stroke that people want to race the answer is NO
They do make a nice 310 but that is not a open class bike that can NOT run up front.Does Husky make a great 2 stroke Yes If the 2 stroke is so great why am I the only one racing one in District 37.Seems like every race people I know show up on a new KTM and now it looks like it might be Beta.
I just posted this to show what I see and wounder why Husky is going the way they are.
If you are a company like BMW/Husky and you have the mine set that both those companies have to make the best product there is Why then do you not try to make the best Dirt bike out there and hire a few guys to prove it
BMW/Husky wants to make Dual sports and fe fe bikes like there street line up then o well it is what it is
I just hate to see Husky not be # 1 when I feel it can be

Burson won on a Husky and would win on any quality bike, just like ajaxauto would probably place about the same on a Beta. Congrats to you ajax, keep the helmet cam videos coming, they really motivate me to become a better rider.

That is true but with 7 Husky entered and 3 DNF it does not look good for the brand I just want to see Husky in the winners circle and it looks like for 2013 it will not happen BUT there is always 2014

I do have the whole race on film 2 hours 49 min and 15 seconds Now I have to edit down to like 20 min unless you want all of it and you can fast foward alot Most of the good stuff was on the second loop
lots of single track in the mountains First loop was boreing flat and full of woops
I could just post loop 2 tonight

DNFs can be riders quitting or crashing out but you're right that it probably doesn't help bike sales. All I know is that I have swapped rides with riding buddies and haven't ridden a bike yet that I would swap for my 09 WR250. + all of them would have cost 1-2k more than what my Husky cost and that is before mods. If Husky hired big name riders they would probably pass the expense on to the consumer. I look closely at what guys like you ride, guys who primarily fund their own operation and choose what ever bike they want not who pays them the most, although "Husky Bucks" seems like a good deal for those who participate.

I really like my Husky and will keep racing my 2 strokes As for husky bucks have not received any since 2010 Guest I need a new bike but my old ones are the same as the new ones and even if I was able to win again it would not cover the cost of the new bike Sat I rode my 250 around and then on Sunday raced my 300 Husky really does make a good old 2 stroke It is just a shame not many people know it
My original point was today is monday the day after the first race and the talk is how a Beta won and how many new KTms were there
I just wish Husky was the talk of the town and with out a race team or anyone really racing them talk will be hard to came by.What people will see is the 3 DNF out of the 7 that entered Just about everyone who rides my bike then tell me how well they work BUT then I see them go buy something else.Usally a KTM

Nic was doing well but the team made a mistake at the pits and he left the pits with out a full tank of gas So he ran out of gas and finished way back.Only a few Purvine racers were there since only a few of the new Batas have showed up there were 5 Betas there with 3 class wins
4 overall 3 in class open pro
5 overall first in class 40 pro
    9 overall first 30 pro
13 overall first in class 250 pro It was a 2 stroke
28 over all 5 in class open pro Nic ran out of gas
So all in all it is a good start for the new team with wins on both Saturday with a 250 mile
race then on Sunday with 2 more wins on a 80 mile desert race and NO DNFs
To bad we are now seeing this from a Husky team But then there is no team not even any Husky racers near the front just a few old guys who still love the brand
It is what it is I just report what I see

Just on an added note I may have posted this concerning Beta.
Beta is a major player in the home market Italy (EU as well).
Beta has no less than 41 models from the 498 beast that NB657 is campaigning to 50cc 2 strokes from trials to enduro to alp(DS) to street. Beta is full line motorcycle manufacturer, a very full line at that.

My quick back of mind opinion, they ( impossible to sell the idea to BMW corporate) could have kept the new chassis 450-510 and just re-fined/re-engineered that older bullet proof engine (my TXC450 type)along the lines that ZipTy Racing was going with it. played with chassis too, Lightened things up a bit, use a C/B shaft, clean up the head (flow it), Keihin FI, work the chassis a little.........Thats always been on my mind.

Nic told me the fastest bike he ever road was the old 510 motor Zip Ty Racing built for the WORC
That motor was fast The rest of the bike could have used some work

Beta builds a top quality trials bike and is my first choice for a trials bike. I've heard the enduro is scaled back for a smaller rider like a GasGas but haven't ridden one to be sure. Cody Webb is a tall guy and seems to make it work just fine.

Betas are good I am sure, but don't forget Husqvarna won more than their share of XC2 races in GNCC. Don't think they can flip a switch and cover every series in the world overnight.

I see Beta taking over as the cool European bike that Husky once was. Back in 06-08 Husky was on a roll. They were a small euro company run by enthusiasts. The Italians really were proud of the product they designed and they wanted to succeed.

Now that BMW has completely neutered the Italians I see Beta being to new "cool euro bike".

I am seriously considering buying a Beta 250RR for my personal use.

I hate to rain on my and your respect for the Toscana based Beta and their large range of machines as the cool EU/Italian brand.
Buut I gotta say the super cool Italian brand run by enthusiasts is TM.
They build only racing/hi performance machines in a small facility in Pesaro and they are still a true cottage industry manufacturer. And Yes they will be competeing in the FIM MXGP series with the Ricci Racing Team (former Husky MX2 team) as well as the WEC. They also win more world karting championships as well as a racing kart engine builder.

i like being the lone dog in the pack! yeh win sunday sell monday still applies and the sheeple wont forget it. i doubt HVNA 'll fully field a big dez factory effort cost wont offset the gain is the usual excuse least it is here at the other "H".
Jon you could win on anything. but you know that feeling deep down ya get cuz yer racing the H. the pros that need a check dont feel the same or brand attacthment, pride or heritage. they gota job. you gota race. good on ya fer sticking with it. play different. head down keep hammering.
