I contemplated whether or not to even post this as the amount of footage wasn't much so with my poor editing skills I pieced together what I had before my battery died into one vid. I had a really nice time and want to again thank Dean and his very cool neighbor Mark for hosting. It was nice to finally meet everyone and get the opportunity to ride with lil' Woodsie. I call her that because she's very petite but she sure knows how to ride. Amazing. Anyways, it's not much but here's a glimpse of the days ride. Thanks for posting that, Jerry! Sure wish I hadn't forgotten my camera You ran out of battery right when things got interesting It was great to have the opportunity to put faces with names finally. We need to go for a ride in the Sierra in the fall! Did you survive the poison oak? What about you, Endurogirl and Lemony?
Looks so pretty....and at the same time, I'm SO glad that I wasn't there! I barely look at poison oak and it seems that I manage to get it for about three or four weeks. I'd have to ride in a hazmat suit and jump into a vat of Tec Nu immediately after the ride!
Interesting footage ... Its got that virgin tuff dirt look with that grass covering up the black stuff ... Is that dirt that black or was the look just from the video? ... And those spurns or ridges you were riding on will need to be rode across someday .and ridden to the bottom ..
+1 After my last trail building encounter with Poison Oak at the Funky Chicken it took me a couple months to heal up.....
Awesome video!!! Thanks! - it does explain many of the tracks I found yesterday! It was good to meet the new people I've not met before, and eternally grateful to all who showed up. It really does help! Mark and I walked what appears to be what will be the 'Main' trail, and will do a couple of things to it so I can get my bike up/down the trail with the bike trailer with tools in it - so I do not have to keep walking up/down the hills humping tools. And part of what will be done is a major killing off of poison oak...
Defiantly virgin jet back dirt under the loam on the ground - excellent traction. Bikes have been going up & down everywhere... bottom, top...
That's all well and good...especially the part about eradicating the poison oak...but please don't make it really wide! Some of the trail is pretty narrow right on the edge of the ravine that goes down to the creek. I'd hate to see that little stretch get "easy'd up."
I don't know how I miraculously came out unscaved from poison oak. I mean I was rolling in it and I am very poison oak prone. I guess I'm just lucky. It's too bad I didn't get any vid of the second little ride where Dean gave us a tour of the property. There's potential for a really cool enduro track to be carved out and there's plenty of space, steep hills, wooded areas and little creek crossing, it's all there. I had a blast just rippin' through the grassy hills and the "bowl" section, fun fun fun.....
You got lots of options for riding there with all that cool terrain ... Should be a fast GP type track there somewhere ... some good ST ... Maybe a parameter trail ...Set up a few claymores out there for the revenuers
Great video! I know the right thing to do is stay on trails but sometimes I wish I could just make my own . It really seems perfect out there. It reminds me of riding in PA but with less rocks. When I lived in NJ/PA I always got poison whatever. Still have no clue what any of it looks like lol. Seems like you all had a great group there too.
There are no trails yet.. it is private land and we are trying to make some Feel free to hop on a plane for the next one. Yes, it was a fun day and a great group.
