I don't think anyone said that. In fact many things are addressed on this site that they do need. EFI tuning, oil rerouting, but generally they are very good bikes which some seem to not want hear.

I really like how they engineered the smog stuff to come right off and the pop rivets next to the catalytic converter that drill out so easy to be modified . The newest stock mod I have done it drill a bunch of holes in my airfilter tray for more clean air consumption . I don't like the FMF power core anymore and it's for sale FYI, mint condition.... I am going to get me another stock muffler to modify again and will never have to pack a muffler on my 511... these bikes run good with a little know how.

I think there is a great deal of useful info in this thread, both positive and little negative. I just re-read the whole thing while thinking about your question. My answer is no I don't think it should be closed just yet, we drift off topic at times but the ship self rights pretty quick, that's why we love this site and your management of it. Actually there is very little negative in this thread, there are however many assumptions on what one may or may not mean in their post.

I was a little frustrated with the dying for no reason thing at first (but loved everything else, even the motocross test run). Then a simple plug that took it to race map II made all that go away. I'll be putting on the FMF combo this weekend and after that suspension and the things that make it more comfortable for a tall guy. I did the same thing to my last two bikes (including remapping for my current CRF450) to make it ride better and fit me and they weren't Husky's. I wanted a dirt bike with blinkers so I could take it on the highway to get back to the dirt. In California there's no way to turn a dirt bike street legal so we have 4 choices at this size and this is a good one for a great deal!!

I think most are forgetting this. Except I would say 'connect trails' or 'side roads' as opposed to 'highway' (that is how I would use it, personal preference).

(though I am not sure if 4 is the exact number, I've not kept up on that)

Yep, you have to have a street legal title where I am also...so buy it choked, and unchoke it...
We used to put the light kits on, but they just are not going for it anymore.
I would bet EPA will be sure it's that way everywhere if they have they're way..
Glad husky recognized this and did it this way, actually cheaper. Less than 400
For pipe and remap, to make it run like it should

Has to have the same problem numerous times here in Ca
    before we can use it.

Best case is he gets a loaner from the shop while they tear it down.

I have owned my 2013 TE 511 for 7 months now.(my 4th Husky) For what ever reasons, mostly southern AZ summer ones, I didn't get it out on a well rounded ride with everything from fire roads to puke yourself endless lava rock gardens until I was home in Modoc County CA for vacation lately. I now like this motorcycle. I have 20 solid years riding dirt bikes spread over the past 40, and I say its a stellar scooter. Steering it under throttle is different but I adapted. Small fuel capacity and the worst gas cap ever are the only things that have a lingering stench once I modded the oil breather.
I was uber pissed about the oil puking issue and was considering burning it in the fire pit of my clubs next enduro, due mostly to the dealer and Husky's lackadaisical attitude towards that issue. True. It is just a machine. Instead I will ride it until it dies, but never buy another Husky. Just How I, a simple consumer can vote with my feet over an easy fix issue that should be addressed at the dealer level with a parts fix.
I would recommend the TE/TXC 449/511 to anyone who is not intimidated by the seat height and does sub 90 mile with out gas available rides. Mine has acceptable levels of vibration and goes down the highway for extended periods fine at 55 to 60 mph. If you want a freeway bike, buy a freeway bike. The motor being made in a ISO 9001 certified factory in Taiwan is an issue only to the xenophobic.

Hi guys, interesting thread! I have just taken my new 449 for its break in ride, and having stepped up from a 99 XR400 the Husky is a world different. I love the way it takes on gnarly hills like a tractor, and steers so well through the rough or sandy stuff. I did find that after a stall it will take quite a bit of cranking to get started again, and a couple of times it was as though the battery was running flat??? The only other issue is there is quite a bit of throttle run on, up to 2 seconds I reckon, not sure what is causing this, but will ask the dealer to look at it during its first service.
The 449 comes uncorked with race map 2 and an Akro can to replace the standard. The acceleration is breathtaking without any throttle lag. Can't say much more except for my first new bike this one has been worth the wait!

Upgrading the ecu to map #3 will most likely fix the stalling and whatever other issues you have. $40 from ZipTy or your dealer might be able to do it.

I think this thread is great guys.

I'm not confused at all by all these different opinions.

I run the Husqvarna TC 449, 13 to 1 compression engine in a BMW G450X chassis. I run the BMW ECU with the original BMW injection unit and the powerplug. Its got the close ratio, 5 speed gearbox. Very solid gearbox. Will take abuse all day. I have swapped the forks out and set it up with KTM 20MM offset trees and WP 4860 forks set up by Racetech, I run the KTM front wheel as well. Rear shock has been reworked by Dicks Suspension. I run a Speedbrain seat. GPR steering stablizer. Leo Vince' full exhaust. Zip-Ty valve cover breather and my own baffled oil recovery tank with the Zip-Ty oil filler cap. This is an awesome bike, the engine is rock solid has only 12 hours on it.

My BMW engine which was removed for this swap has 133 hours. That engine is getting the big bore kit now that its sitting on the bench and the wide ratio gearbox it has will have its specific usage depending on where I go riding. I have about 5 sets of plastics and different graphics on a few sets. I ride the high desert in Southern Arizona. I can make it look like what ever I want due to this variety of graphics and it always turns heads. I think the Kymco engine is a piece of great quality engineering. All bikes and engines have their own idiosyncrosies. Nothing is perfect!

The clutch on the BMW is not the same as the Huskys. I'm not talking just about the Husky's having its hydraulic actuation either. Trust me! The steels and fiber plates are about .015 thicker on the BMW engine. The over all thickness of the plate set and basket depth is appoximately .170 difference if I remember. The plate count of each clutch is the same (6 of each) so is the final drive plate and diaphram spring cover plate.

I run 14/48 gearing and these engines are bulletproof. it will pull 4th gear power wheelies easy. I don't mind at all having a vintage recently installed "Husqvarna" sticker on my BMW. It keeps the Nay-sayers confused and me laughing! Oh and I'm 54 and have owned nothing but Maico's during my early years of riding except for a few years I rode quads for something different.
