We have two of the TE 630's here. Both set up the same. Modded air box for more air. FMF single exhaust, oem p/u, Up-Tite pan, 3.0 final gearing, iBeat at 105/110/120. License plate bolted directly below tail light with the lower bill cut off as it can break off in the wash board as mine did. The bikes are MUCH better now then stock. Capable of hitting the big hill climbs and s/t if you dare, while cruising 70mph on the blacktop. The lack of a wind screen on the pavement can get tiring, but I can live with it. The Wolman Enduro E12 bags fit good on the bike.

Her bike has had no failures, besides the normal clutch cup washer wear. Hers did not fail, but at 8,2xx miles they were showing wear and got the Indy upgrades.

My 630, I had the clutch slave need a new o-ring, normal Husky behavior, no biggie. My bike got the Indy upgrade at 9,xxx miles, and it was more heavily worn then the other 630. BUT now at just over 11k miles my bottom end is making a horrible noise. I trucked my bike to a local race shop guy that knows his stuff. He listened to the bike and said it sounds to him like something loose and not a crank/rod issue. I bought the Husky flywheel puller but yet have not pulled it apart for inspection. It was suggested I inspect the starter clutch. I hope to do that soon.

Would I suggest a Husky 630/ SWM 650 to someone, yes I would, but only if they are prepared to upgrade the clutch assembly right away. Putting it off could be catastrophic. I hope my 630 engine noise is something simple to repair, that doesn't require the full monty. Could it be from me not upgrading the cup washers sooner, idk yet. Fingers crossed. The 630 is a great performing bike, but with this pita issue.

Awesome bike. Running single Staintune muffler (originally off a VTR1000), 20 litre IMS tank with external fuel pump mod. 1 3/4" bar risers, Rekluse auto clutch (RMS856)
15/45 sprockets. Just upgraded the clutch washers. Had to replace clutch master cylinder piston due to a leak. Seat sucks so I use an Airhawk.
That said, I'll be keeping this one long term. Awesome power for fast trail riding and will sit on 70+mph on the tar.

You'll want to read up on the issue of the right hand side oil screen coming apart. It must be stressed that this is a bit of a coin toss issue- some have never had an issue but some have, and the result can be devastating:

As others have pointed out these are great bikes, but you have to be attentive and willing to deal with some issues.

I think all you're looking for is in this forum. There's a thread on known weak areas/issues, fueling/tuning, etc., etc.

My 2011 TE630 is my first dual sport bike. I bought it new in 2013 from the dealership.
I love it. I commute on it everyday. Usually I ride it for a week or two weeks then the week after that I ride my Monster.

In my opinion, it handles better in slow speed, than my Monster. The seat is not comfortable though. After maybe an hour ride my ass start to feel sore. I bought an Airhawk to make it more comfortable.

The problem I have so far are: had to replace water temp sensor; rear light wouldn't turn on when I brake with front brake, I had to rewire it and it solved the problem.

Here's my bike: it has Barkbuster hand guard, BB Offroad bash plate, Barrett exhaust and side rack.

Have you considered a SeatConcepts? Made a big difference for me.

    Hi Jon,
Yes I considered Seat Concept, but I went with Airhawk cause I want to be able to use it on different bikes and I bought it when my daughter was in the US. I shipped the Airhawk to her address and when she returned home she brought it with her (along with other stuffs), saved a lot on shipping cost and duty :D

I bought mine used with about 4k miles on it.
Except for the issue with the auto-decompressor that I documented on the thread below, it's been a good bike.
Not quite as good as a KTM 300 XC-W on single track, not quite as good as a KTM 990 SMT on the road, but it does a lot better than both in a mixed environment :-)
