I need to know who the shortest person on a 610/630 is. More specifically I'm looking for info on weather it's possible that a 5'7" 150lb rider can fit onto a 610/630. I currently have a 07TE450 that I stretch ti fit on but have done it succefully for the pat 3ish years, with the majority of my foot touching (arch forward) with bike lowered. I'm wanting more highway capability and am simply curious if it is plausible?

Are you talking TE or SM?

Woodschick has an SM610 that she lowered and put dirt tires on the 17 inch rims
It seems to get her pretty far off road but I think she’s a former racer so she might be able to coax the wildebeest to do dirty things it wasn’t meant to do :excuseme:

    :thinking:Maybe she’s just naturally gifted

Was wanting a TE but am not against an SM as I'm wanting it more for road anyway.

Calling all shorties? That would be me :)

I'm 5'1" with fairly short legs for my height. I ride an `07 SM610 that has been revalved/resprung for me and lowered 1". I wanted an `07 TE610 but ended up with the SM and couldn't be happier with it. It's the most fun streetbike I've ever owned, for sure!

I bought it with the intention of using it as an adventure-style bike, big-mileage days in the desert, bike-camping trips, dual-sporty stuff, and the like. An extra-added bonus is I know have a supreme pavement-rippin' machine:D I've been experimenting with off-road tires for the 17" wheels and have found some success. It doesn't handle like a dirt bike because of the wide wheels, and I wouldn't want to have it for my only dirtbike, but I've ridden it on singletrack and through some pretty amazing terrain. You just have to dial it down a notch and be careful. It tends to slam you down pretty hard and it is not a joy for me to pick up. It's been the perfect bike for my intended purposes, though, and it's the most versatile bike in my very well-stocked garage.

Click on my user name at the top of this post, go to my profile and look at the photos in both my SM610 albums and you'll see just how versatile this bike has been for me. I don't think it's for everyone, but it's been great for me

Oh, and by the way, I'd almost sell my soul to be 5'7" so I don't wanna hear any complaining from you about being "short"

Heck your funny Woodsy. Every time I toe jab on my bike and wish I were taller or the bike shorter you pop into my mind and I stop bitching as its pathetic-I am six feet. I often wondered about that huge front nobby of yours, have you tired for a norrow rim?

I am 5'7" ..not 150lbs though ..lol . I can touch fine enough with standard 21 front 18 rear and with the 17 in sumo wheels on ....no problem at all.

I used to be 5'9" but my spine has compressed (so far)to the point I'm about your size, with a 30" inseam. After re-springing for my weight my 610 sits so I can get both feet almost flat with boots on and with the stock seat. I have a Ed's Moto seat, but I'd rather deal with the pain for the 1inch difference if I'm riding off-road at all.
If you can deal with the 450, you should be fine with the 610.

And don't forget, we aren't supposed to be dragging are feet when we ride. They go on the pegs.

Roger that, no dragging of the feet. Thanks for the "YA you'll fit." Now I just have to convince my wife that I need a lrger chainsaw in the garage. Not a replacement, but additional.

I know, I was just being a SA. If you can swing it, the 610 will be a nice compliment to the 450. I like to take both to give the 450 a rest (and me) and just go cruizen.

learn to deal with it. it's not that difficult especially with a bike as light as the TE. I rode a KTM ADV 990S for a while and that thing was TALL. Both my feet had about 3 inches of air between them and the ground.
I"m about 5'7" as well. TE630 is a breeze coming from the 990.

I had Eric measure the distance between the bottoms of my feet and the ground when sitting on my new WR125...8" of air on both sides  My SM610 was almost as tall...

I'm 5'4" and ride a SM610. I've raised my forks 7/8" and changed the rear spring to a softer one (because of my weight, not height). I can get one foot down just fine with my boots on, although I do have a fairly long inseam (30"-30.5") for my height. If I'd gone with a TE, I would've had to internally lower it.

    shorties unite!

I am 5'7" 165, have 28-29 inch inseam. Ride 06 TE 610. The dealer had the shock shaft shortened by 5/8 inch which resulted in a 2 inch drop in seat height. I don't think I could confidently ride without it. I don't do any jumps etc, so the loss of travel minimally impacts my riding. Speak to George at Uptite tho, he recommends a spacer of some sort, it would also lower the seat a bit, but would also add pre load. On the upside, a spacer would appear to be removable.

I'm 5'6" and weight almost 200 [old, fat & ugly].
I did two things to lower my 2006 610SM:
    1. installed a koubalink; which claimed to lower 1.5 inches.
    2. slid the forks up in the trees about an inch.

This has made a great difference, both in confidence and handling. I can now get the balls of both feet solidly on the ground. I would say I lowered it about 3 inches from the pumped up original settings.
I use the bike as a commuter, 22 stop signs and 18 lights in 7.5 miles. Also a few speed bumps and an occasional hopped curb.

I am 5' 7" and 28" inseam. Never did lower my TE610 as I could always touch tip toes both sides on the street which was more than enough. Would have been nice to drop a couple inches for the dirt as by the time I could dab a foot I was already past the tipover point of no return. I took to motorcycles late in life not like most here who have decades of skills ;) Kouba has a 40mm link drop kit, at least in Australia, would have been perfect.

    Hey there!

I'm 5'6", 158lbs. I Rode 200 serious off-road miles in Moab, UT last May on the stock suspension on my TE630. I just now installed a KoubaLink HL-1, lowering the bike about 1". I also lowered the from forks to the 3rd line per thier instructions. I sits perfect now!

I'm impressed on how well you short folk compensate for lack of leg length. I have always taken for granted that I can sit on my TE630 with my feet flat on the ground. (6'2", 34" inseam)
