    Hi All,

Can any one recognise which year this Ohlin came from? I was told '88 WR. I want to put it on my '85 (as it was cheaper than a rebuild) but when I got it back home I noticed that the length of the body was longer than mine and the shaft was shorter. The reservoir was at 90 Deg to the mounting holes whereas mine is set at an odd angle.

Mounting to mounting it is the same so I am sure it will fit but will it work? There wasn't that much difference between 85,86,87 and 88.....

Any help would be gratefully recieved. I hope I haven't wasted any money.

On the top of the cylinder head you'll see some numbers stamped in it, likely beginning with "HA", then three digits. Get me any and all numbers stamped in it, and I can narrow it down to what it was used on when I get to work Monday.

    Hi Gary,

The only numbers I can find on the top casting are:-

    MA 4365
    V-549

Many thanks for checking for me.... I am prepared for any bad news...

I had a feeling it might when the numbers started with M and not H...

Even if I change the ball joints at the end, I think it might have to go back due to the fact that the chamber might hit the exhaust and that it has a shorter stroke....

I'm going to have to be more carefull in future... :banghead:
