Can someone identify this part?

2009TXC250, I changed out my oil and this was stuck to the magnet(not the penny!!)glad it stuck,but where does it go and what was its purpose and most importantly where is the fastner that was holding it??

Is it dark colored spring-like thin steel? It may be broken off from the rocker shaft clip?? Looks like the end with the hole you grab the clip by. Hard to tell for sure from the pick. It would be easy enough to remove valve cover and see.

Jeff nailed it on the head,,thats what it is,,,I would even bet money on it..

me too, good get mootak for sure its the little tab you pull off the rocker shaft to get to the shims must of broken off!
