I like how this place is always changing,... usually in some small way that means something to the local people\area only ... But always something new is being built or changed or something is left to rot down in place ... Not like a BIL $ casino being built in LV, but something down&dirty, For the People, By the People, to Help the People, in most cases ...

This construction is just off a small road I have been on many times but just never ventured down ...Its a mini Hydropower plant complete with a weir for generating the power :) ...

This will be something I can watch being built over the next yr or so ... The water flow is what I'm most interested in ... Maybe I'll be on hand for the opening and initial generating of power ...

Details on the project. This is upstream from the construction shown above 101_2508.JPG

~2,000 homes will get power from this project ... Its an election yr and lots of new stuff, ESP road cementing is happening here .. 101_2509.JPG

Small crossing over the water supply ... Upstream 1\4 mile ...

A few more pics of the crossing and water flowing downstream ... You can see below that I can't get a good shot of the water falls as the area is overgrown pretty much as mother nature grew it ...

The longest fall at the bottom ....

    Its actually a 3 level fall .... 101_2513.JPG

Finally made it back out to this water plant. Seems it's not gonna generate ELEC but rather just clean the water to some degree and then it is gravity-feed into a big pipe and goes off to an area 25(?) miles away to a housing project that has been here for yrs. Here are a few pics of the finished project.

This is actually excessive water running through the plant on off downstream.

Here is the operation ... Maybe someone who has experience in this stuff can comment on the workings here. I was just out there and climbed the ladder to the operation area of the plant and was looking at the water flow ... The guy working the plant could not speak english so we could not communicate too much on its operation.

The water from the pool spills over into the grates (on left) and is pushed over to the right side of the plant and behind the cement wall and into chamber 1. 100_0240.JPG

The water is then pushed into chamber 2 here via gates built into the walls. The gates are opened or closed manually by the large wheels on the top deck. 100_0242.JPG

Excessive water from chamber 2 is released back into the stream.

Chamber 3 here holds the cleaned water that is feed into the pipe and goes off for human usage. 100_0250.JPG

Nice, so it provides Power and clean water for communities ? Must be nice living near a tropical rain forest, I kept waiting for Tarzan to come swinging on
through on one of those vines.

Apparently, that weir in the pics captures the water and I guess, gravity drives the water to point ~25 miles or so away to supply water or electricity(?) to another housing project (Ayala Heights) west of Cebu City. Apparently this stream flows enough water daily on a yearly basis to keep a flow going.

They had to dig up all along the main road here to lay all the pipe. That's a pretty big deal as there is only 1 perimeter road here around the island. I guess I'm gonna have to follow the pipe laying and see what is happening at the other end of this project. Small island here and I can swing by the area where the water connects with the housing area and see what that end is all about in the near future.

Tropical climate means there is maybe 4-5 days in an entire yr that I can't ride on such as a typhoon hitting. Good and bad here as knobbies wear fast. So, I have to constantly plan (think about) on tire usage depending on what races are coming up in the near future in order to have a ~new tire for each race.

Yep, sometimes I still end-up in places and I'm looking for Tarzan also :). Lots of Janes here also to keep an eye on ;)

The water that goes on downstream past the weir is excessive and just flows on out to the ocean. I guess this stream is fed by several smaller, natural springs to keep it flowing.
