The event at Glen Helen today was impressive to say the least. There were tons of people there to pay respect and ride. I saw many people on Husky’s riding, with all orange gear on. I was the only one there with a Husqvarna shirt on. Nancy (Kurt's Mom) came over and gave me a big hug although I think it was me hugging her. I couldn't help but to get a little misty. The prayer was silent, not a sound heard anywhere, but when they started their bikes, the thunder rolled. I remembered back to my days as a professional drag racer, man I just love that energy felt in the ground and all around you. The best part is that I was there with friends. The Prospectors were happy to have my company and pulled me aside. The Smith's seemed pretty active, Alexander rode in the event, but not Dad. Alexander kept trying to grab me and pull me into the picture with his Dad haha. I'm photo shy so I stayed out of this one. They were happy to see me and I was happy to see them. Ty was busy most of the day with a huge swarm of people around him, talking and asking questions. I decided to stay clear of that drama and kept my distance. I made sure that a couple of our products were donated to the Caselli fund. People bidded our coolant and irons up pretty high and all money went to the Caselli family. In all, it was a pleasant day. Nancy said that she was so honored to have everyone there and that she thanked KTM and everyone for a wonderful memorial for her son. - Michael
That is without a doubt the best picture that I have seen of Malcom and Alexander. Very Very cool! And thanks for the KC details. You folks down there sometimes seem to be at the center of the universe.
Awesome post Tinken, thanks. Man Malcom's son looks so much like him. If everyone who wanted to be at this even from around the world could have made it where would be millions. RIP Kurt.
Looks like 2000 plus people. http://www.cyclenews.com/304/22687/Racing-Article/Kurt-Caselli-Honored-At-Glen-Helen.aspx
It was more like 15 bikes wide, all the way around. So loud you could feel it in the ground. Truly awesome.
I guess he doesn't ride enough. Being on a bike doesn't erase extreme sorrow from our lives. But it does help ease the pain.
Amazing event. And the next day Ty showed up to win the 40A class at the Tecate HS. I also saw and spoke with Charles Jirsa he was also down in Tecate supporting one of his friends who was racing the hare scrambles. Kurt will be missed but his racing spirit is everywhere!
Man what a guy. This one tears at the heartstrings. For all of us who couldn't be there: View: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z371ASR1HaQ#t=15
