To date, there is still one area of the island where passing through the mountains and staying off the hardtop is very difficult and I know of only a single route ... These pics show a trail that has potential as a second way to pass through this area ... These pics are from the south side, heading north ... I'll go out later and look at the north side of the trail and try to connect it back to the side end ... This video shows the final 1/2 mile or so to the area when the trail heads off along the ridge line and down into that large valley ... I park the bike (SOP for me here on new trails )and follow these local guys on foot and let them show me the trail ... Too far to walk out the entire distance so I'm not sure if this can be crossed on the bikes ... Heres some pics on what was down the trail ... Only a few sticking points so far and yes, it is alot more steep than it looks in some places ... This 1st pic shows the steepness angle pretty accurate . Entry point .. I sat there 1/2 hr or so and must have seen 6-7 horses go down that way... This is looking back up at rock that will be a sticking point on the way back out .. Probably need a guy waiting by that rock to help pull the bike over the 4' or so step-up... Some of the climbs along the way ...
The view ... Thats Negros Island in the far background ... Its alot more visible in person ... 2 serious mud bogs ... Bikes will sink up to their axles here if wet ... Some easy stuff here also ..
Steep climb here (heading back out) but doable and plenty of area on the left side to lay the bike over on the MT if something happens . A look back at where we started ... That small white in the center of the pic is the trail we are on.. Another cool uphill to climb Another shot of one of the mud bogs.
My 010 TC250 sitting on the top side.. This is another shot of the trail just down the trail from where I parked the bike ... These guys were riding their horse down the trail... The trail heading back out is in the background .. Looks the width of a dozer blade so I have to think a dozer was here once ...
Its a killer in more than one way ... It's at least 30-40' down the mountain in many places before you will hit ground and might can cling to the ground and stop the fall ... With all that underbrush, you and the bike might get hung before you go down that far ... I carry a rope and if you went over, just wait for a horse to show up and give you a pull ... I really need another route though this area but I'd never ride down in this place without the right people with me ... Probably only a mile or so but its too risky ... No point in going over there with so many other places to ride here ...
