I just bought a new chain and it came with the basic clip type chain link. Is that suitable for our bike? Or should I invest in the rivet style? I've never replaced a chain before, so I'm looking for some advice from those of you have replaced your chain before.
I have used master links in many chains over the years on dirt and much more powerful street bikes and never had a problem as long as you put the open end of the clip facing the rear wheel on the upper run of the chain. YMMV
Direction Front------------------------------------------------------------------------------Rear You wont have a problem, the clip doesn't touch the slipper and there is no chain guide to wear the clip out. The Master link is the weak link, give it attention when oiling.
