I've got an 07 WR250 with I assume the open bath 45mm Zooks. I'm in the process of swapping out the fork springs. Thought this was going to be an easy 20 minute job. Anyway after loosening up my top caps the springs are stuck to the inside of the cap and to the bottom of the fork. Do I just need to use a little more persuasion to get the cap off the top and more yank to pull the springs out of the lowers? Or is there something I'm missing? Thanks
Never heard of them getting stuck. Once you loosen the top cap, you take the cap all the way off and they should just slide right out of there. Try turning the springs some. If you don't mind dumping the oil then you can take the bottom nut off as well and maybe that will give you a better picture of what is going on. Just don't take the chrome part past the seals so you don't damage them. Were they working O.K. before this ? Just wondering if a Shim stack came loose in there.
After loosening the top cap from the fork leg.. Push down the fork spring and spring guide.. Hold the locknut (blue anodized nut) with another 19mm wrench.. Now unscrew fork cap.. Cheers..

Yep, this is what I wasn't doing. Swapped the springs tonight. The new springs came with a spacer which I assume is placed at the bottom of the spring. I left the original spacers in, because I would have had to take the legs off and dump them upside down. Also assuming the spacers with the new springs and the originals are the same length. My new firmer springs were the same length as stock, same steel diameter, just a few less coils, which makes sense, since they are supposed to be stiffer. Thanks.
