Hi. Does anyone know if Cigar Mike is still trading? I have emailed a couple of times regarding a TE630 centre stand but haven't received a reply. The website is still up and running however it mentions that he might close down at the end of 2012. Any info or an alternative supplier would be appreciated. Thanks Richard
I emailed him about 4 months ago about getting a center stand for my 630. He replied saying he wasn't going to be manufacturing them any longer and had none in stock. Which totally bites, as I want a center stand....
Well, I have one of his stands in my garage. I think that you would have to provide your own bolts and probably a spring, but that should be possible. I just didn't need it after fixing my side stand, and I rarely ride on the road with the 630. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll pull the stand down and see what else I have to go with it.
Hey Ken, Maybe go into business making side and center stands for the 630 since you already hold the patents on the side stand you could do a knock off of Cigar Mikes. I am sure millions to be made here. Ya, not going to happen. I already have both stands, so not in the market. PS Did you see one of your side stands on Ebay?
Yes on the Ebay, no on Cigar Mike's stuff. There were extra stands made in CA in order to meet the minimum production run so that the cost could be reasonable. At the time I didn't know about the extras. The decision was made to go ahead and sell the remainder from there to save shipping costs and pass that on to buyers. I'm sorry we couldn't have done that earlier but at the time there was just no way. Any 630 owners that want one should consider since there will be no more. I have two 610 stands left as well, and that's it!
Looks like I missed this boat. I need to stop loaning my Huksy to friends... a second stock stand has bitten the dust due to a failure to dismount.
Senor, it is relatively easy to make a steel stand from an old or new steel 610 stand as I did originally. Look at my earlier thread on the subject. If you can fine a used stand it will be a LOT cheaper. Otherwise, it's a little cutting, grinding and welding. A functional stand is such a pleasure!
Make a stop plate that mounts behind the footpeg like Ken designed for his stands. Keep the stand more vertical and the load is less likely to break it. There are better pics here somewhere.
