• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I broke mine while swapping levers (not sure how, though). Anyway... I figured this is a universal screw/bolt, right? I went to the local Jap bike dealer, and the only one they had was different- bigger pitch (and $16!). So, if I want to ride this weekend, I need to find a replacement.

Does anyone know if the bolt from a different bike will fit? There must be something that shares the same part, but describing the bolt to local shops (on the phone) won't do any good in NYC (most employees are clueless). The actual part is #7678100.

Well, after spending over 2 hours on the phone, I'll repeat what I just said to the dealer who said he could order it for me... sometimes, I hate this bike.

Every pic I find online (for other bikes) shows a 1.25 pitch, but ours uses a 1.00 pitch. WTF.

Maybe you can just make one real quick.

Get an allen bolt the size and pitch, try to find a low grade steel.

Drill the allen to the cable shield size, then drill the center of the bolt out to just bigger than the cable size.

Then carefully cut the slot with a hacksaw. Final step to debur with a small triangle file or stiff wire wheel.

That will get you riding today, vs chasing around looking for it for 2 days. Feel free to vary this any way your tools allow, take pictures :D

Heh, I don't have those skills! That would take me all day, and it would still be a mess, haha.
I called the Guzzi dealer, and they only sell full cables (!).

So, a guy at my garage with an Aprilia RS250 (and a parts bike!) saved the day... he gave me one that fit.
