250-500cc clutch cable/lever question

I was going to try and fit my ASV levers from my old bike to my WR250 and seem to have ran into a snag. I can't get the cable seperated from the lever. It looks to me like the ball end which fits into the lever is actually a two piece on these cables? It looks like the outer surface has worn through on one side and expanded inside the lever so I can't get it out. Looks like I need a new cable, what do you guys thinks?
