Does anyone make an aftermarket left side clutch cover for a 2008 WR250? My gear shifter has worn a major groove in mine. A little RED bling bling would be nice.
7602 Racing might have one, I haven't looked on his site in a while. I'd also check with www.gnarlyparts.com, they had quite a bit of stuff for the WR last time I looked. Brad
Motorhead - It sounds like this shifter lever issue is company wide? I thought mine was just a little bent and it was just me. I'm not sure how thick that cover is but I can tell you that my groove is pretty deep. One trail mishap and I'm leaking oil... So, there has to be a 100 companies making an aftermarket shifter for the WR250... Anyone have a favorite?
Yes, the WR's have a flexxie shifter. I wish there was a good replacement, but the only things I've seen are some cheap-o levers that really aren't better than stock. I keep meaning to contact HAMMERHEAD DESIGNS about making one, but it's yet to happen. They make some nice beefie lever for a lot of different bikes, some I can't imagine selling more than a hand full of.
I think a really strong shift lever is actually a poor idea. Keep it light and weak, that way when you crash you only need to bend or replace the lever, not the shift shaft. On my old WXC I filed the inside of the steel tip down where it pivots (and where it contacts the clutch cover) to help reduce digging into the clutch cover and bent the lever out just a tiny bit. That worked well for me.
