to remove the clutch cover you don't have to remove any thing else than 5 bolts of the cover that has the little sight glass incorporated.

I've been wondering this too, for when my clutch goes, robert -jan but when the clutch cover comes off, does the water pump impeller not hold the rest back as it's threaded onto the rod which goes back inside past the cover?

Should just pull of with the water pump still attached to the case as there is just a nylon drive gear in the inside that meshes with the crank gear.

johhny boy, so if i were to replace my clutch and took the cover off, is the waterpump seal people talk about contained in the clutch cover or is it a little rubber piece further in?

In the cover, you wont have to disturb anything unless the seal is shot and the oil is all milky coloured.

We are talking apples and oranges here

the engine from the WRE 2011 and newer is the same as the WR and the CR engine.

It has the a separated clutch cover lid and a inner clutch cover.

the older one has the inner clutch cover and the clutch cover lid together in one piece.

I have no experience with the old type one but it would surprise me that the water pump have to be dissembled completely just to get to the clutch.

its normally a little shaft that has a drive sprocket directly to the crank shaft and the shaft is supported by a small bearing in the same casting of the main bearing.

I had a look on the older WRE motor parts fiche and the water pump assembly doesn't have to be taken apart, it will simply stick in the clutch cover

the shaft for you oil pump would probably stay in the engine block when you take the cover off and would need a bit of attention when putting it back

if you do it to forceful you might damage the seal.

All with all not a difficult set up and by simply working precise and not forcing things it would be a walk in the park

to my understanding there is only one cover with a sight glass, if you need to address the clutch its only this cover and you have full access for what ever you want to do.

Have a look in the file I uploaded a few posts before.
