Coils choices

    I have a 76' 250 wr. I am in need of a coil. Before I go the ebay route, I'd like to avoid possible disaster, and spend a fair amount on a questionable used one. I have 2 project Elsinore 250cr's 76' could I use a coil off of one of these in the interim? Are there output/ resisistance issues? Is there anything special with the motoplat and/or Honda coils?

    If your Husky uses a Motoplat ignition, as far as I am aware you will need a Motoplat coil. I am sure a coil off a Jap bike will not work with the Motolplat stator.

    There are different types of Motoplat coil as well, so you do need to be careful. From memory it all depends on whether the diode is in the stator or not, and if you google Motoplat there are a number of websites (some more accurate than others) on how to check it all out.

    But having said all this, I am certain you will need a motoplat coil.
