My condolences to our european cousins for the giant billboard they must tow around behind them...
Whereas around here, our plates are about 1/3rd the size and we can get by with stuffing them up in the fender as long as you can see them from the rear.

That is due to our authorities making sure they can spy on us! They even have cameras on the highways that can check your details as you zoom past. If you have out of date insurance, tax, or MOT (vehicle inspection) they can "find you" on the database and come knocking at your door...

Be warned, this kind of thing is coming to America soon too...:busted: From watching motovlogs I can tell that similar things are happening in the states as well, albeit at a slower rate.

Anyway, enough of the doom and gloom, time for more Husky pics:

Edit: Compared to RDTCU's I can see how ridiculous they look, I might buy a miniature one. Although that is another thing that the "authorities" like to clamp down on, miniature license plates. No, I am not joking, that is a "thing" as well:rolleyes:

Oh we have red light cameras and such in a lot of cities, they'll mail you a ticket with a picture of your face and your plate if you run a light.

There are also plat scanners in some places, a lot of cop cars have them as well.
Some 3rd parties even fit them to discreet vehicles and troll all the big parking lots. They keep the data and when a repo or warrant pops up, they can pull up places you've been "tagged"
Doesn't work so well on bikes, especially if the tag is stuffed up in there a bit

A friend of mine doesn't like the dirt washed off his license plate after a ride. He says then they would know where to send the ticket.

We are supposed to have billboard licence plates but i bought a show plate half the size after i broke the big one rolling the bike down a hill.
Yet to be told off for it, been pulled by the plod for standing up on the pegs they asked if my bike was in full working order blah blah no mention of numberplate.

Haha, exactly! That is why they have made it "illegal" here. Although from reading around on UK biking forums it is hit and miss as to whether you will get pulled over for a smaller plate somewhat conveniently "obscured". I am probably gonna try it, there aren't many cops where I am anyway.

I prefer people to use common sense rather than encouraging the authorities that they need all of this spy equipment to keep tabs on them. The likes of soccer moms etc are what it is aimed at and that spoils it for enthusiasts.

Pretty much what I have heard, it depends on the cop.

Anyway this thread has been dragged right off topic, sorry OP!

Until some months ago, here in Italy it was compulsory, for every car owner, to put a certain small yellow sheet behind the windshield, as a proof that the insurance was not expired. Now, those sheets are not used any more, because there are special cameras like the ones Flynn's described which read your plate and connect to databases.
We also have cameras at crossroads which take a picture of your plate if you pass with the red light.
