Like most of us I also look at what is new on Thumper talk each day. I have been finding it more and more tedious as a lot of personalities like to top dog it and put people down. I always leave Cafe Husky till last as it is always so pleasant and helpful. By the time I have trolled through here the negativity from TT has gone. I am glad this site is so well mannered and well meaning. Thankyou.
You said a mouth full. I dont even own a Husky anymore but still love this forum. The pumpkin forums are the worst for negative comments.
I have got to the point where I'll just send the poster a PM with the answer to what they were asking to avoid all the crap. I have noticed entire threads there that have the one orig. question and 20 plus replies of people trying to one up each other or smack each other. Entertaining sometimes to read but not when you are the poster trying to get an answer. Read the "California" section in "where to ride" and it's nothing but keyboard warriors
keyboard warriors That is the name I was looking for. great description!!!. I was trying to think of a name to describe all the internet tough guys...
Yeah, feel kinda pushed out there myself. One or two guys acting like they own it. Coffee's vision obviously fills a void, well moderated and honest civil forum rules that allow the good stuff to float to the top. My long term advertising here is because of how well run this site is and the members it keeps because of it.
I'd be surprised if the screen name that starts with an "H" doesn't come to mind, concerning Thumpertalk. We had to ban him after we suspended him on our local forum.
Agree! Totally. I left the German Husqvarna Forum for the same reason. After initial problems with my new Husky, was treated as if I´d committed treason. A well run forum a real help.
I go there to check for new topics. I can't believe I keep getting suckered into that thread about the new models hoping for news and it's just more crap about how bad they're going to be.
Funny, I do the opposite You know how you’re about to go underwater ? What do you do when you’re about to go to a place that seems to be short on oxygen ? You fill your lungs with some good air... Although I have to say that Supermotojunkie is growing on me
I am glad you are enjoying the site. Yes the idea is to have a nice place to be. I go to many sites for various reasons, they all have their charm to them. If you want to know who does 99.9% of the moderating, and who makes this place the way you want it to be, I cordially invite everyone to walk over to the nearest mirror. When someone has an issue and posts things that could easily escalate on cafe husky the typical response is something like "whats wrong? Tell us more so we can help you", as opposed to what could have been typed. I realize there are others that probably do not feel comfortable on cafe husky for one reason or another. But that would apply to however the forum was set up.
I'll never own another KTM unless its a two stroke I can work on myself. Wading through KTMtalk swamp to find a decent response was such a hassle. I enjoy coming here and readily expect good help with anything I need. I'm a husky convert for life, even if a future model comes standard with square wheels...and the Jap bike forums are no better than the Pumpkin forums either...
I recently joined TT just for a hoot and to see what it was like. Too big, not so easy to find things in the beginning, too many new posts to follow. And I think that people don't get into discussions and then follow up so much over there. And I really hate all the big ads, and words that show up as clickable buzzwords in posts.
I do worry that people might feel inhibited to post though. They shouldn't. There is nothing happening too much in the background at all. On some sites it appears a certain way in public, then things happen in the background, and things disappear without the authors doing it, and other things happen as well. And those types of things happen frequently. I would certainly hope if someone needs help or has problems they would feel comfortable asking for it. I tried using a product which had company support forums, and I was really afraid to ask questions or make observations because many would imply things that were not working correctly should not be talked about. No product is perfect.
Like Wadman, I'm not riding a Husky at the moment. However, I check for new posts here nearly everday and comment when I think it's useful. I go to KTM Talk only for tech stuff about my 200. This forum keeps me informed about nearly everything I need to know about our sport. Thanks Coffee and members. WR Bob
Cafe Husky is like going to the local pub for a pint, relaxing and your guaranteed to meet nice people
Hey, we live in the same state, enjoy the same drinks and own TEs. We're probably about the same vintage. All we need to do is meet up on a track sometime and enjoy a drink afterwards.
