Contacted ktm about husky as no way to contact husky (read my post contact husky ) well they told me they dont deal with husky and contact a dealer and would not listen about no dealer with in 300miles of me -regarding my warrenty as my local dealer pgh motocycles in england has stopd dealer ship leaving me unable to make warenty claims or keep up service history so my warrenty is not worth the paper its writen on ..i wont ever buy husky or ktm again or pgh

same for me . I realy liked the Italien Huskys. With KTM owning the "NAME" and butchering the previous bikes to the Ground, i will not even look at them.
GASGAS maybe BETA or SHERCO next time.

Here in OZ, they just took all the Husqvarna Import from PAul Feney Group away. But left him responsible with all the Italien Bike Warranty and Part supply.

KTM wont even supply the parts for the Italien bikes.

dirtbike and most other warranties are a joke. Fix it yourself and move forward.

Hey even business smart CH Racing's Azza moved on and ahead quickly to the Sherco brand after so many successful years as the Factory Husky team (Italian Huskys).
And look at the 2014 CH Racing Sherco team all ready hitting podiums in the first official racing year. He moved on and ahead and success is all ready upon him and his team.
Biz is Biz- KTM (Pierer Ind.) bought the brand and reconfigured it, if you dont like you move on.... I do hope and I know other here wish the best as far as any issues with Italian Huskys go.

Did something break on your husky? or are you worried something might break? I guess it's only a problem if something breaks. no use worrying about something that hasn't happened yet

So you can go ride. You can try the warranty thing, if it does not work, fix your bike and ride. I find 99% of the time it is far less frustrating and costly to just fix it and go ride.

You might be right there but I know I am not missing a ride due to a $15 part I can get anywhere and install in 10 minutes.

    BTW it is spelled "know"

he has been elusive about the "issue" on several posts now. Seems it is a rear brake master seal. EZ quick fix. Not worth driving the bike to the dealer and spending half a day there IMHO.

With the price of parts in the UK, why should a customer be ripped off when the manufacturer of a product sells out? KTM has purchased the brand and is now responsible for honouring guarantee commitments. If they renege on their commitments, we should be grateful for the information and it should be widely publicised. Logic dictates (and this rider´s experience shows) that that KTM will not treat new customers any better. Their business policy is despicable and they should (and very likely will) soon discover that their treatment of loyal customers will not pay in the long run.

I´ll be in the market for a new motard soon and Ktm´s new models should be appearing soon. But not for me. Think I´d rather walk.

Good points. I was simply trying to get across warranties are often times more time and cost than they are worth. My wife beat me down til we got the extended warranty on her used car. Had it in the shop several times and guess what, not covered. After dealing with these things my whole life I like to just not buy warranties, not deal with them and fix stuff myself and be out riding instead of chasing down someone to fix a problem I could just fix and be riding. Many phone calls, long drives tot he deal multiple times and still being charged for services not covered makes it way EZ for me to just fix the problem in 30 minutes and be done with it. Life is to short for this kind of messing around for me personally.

My high school son has a smart phone. We paid $99 for it up front (yea, I know the total price of the device, $700, is spread out over the length of the contact). At&t store said free replacement for lost/stolen phones with the insurance plan. I thought it would be a good idea to get the warrantee/insurance on it for $7/mo. It got stolen out of his gym locker. Called the insurance company and they said:

"yes, it's a free replacement, after the $199 deductible."

"Wait a minute!?" I said. "I paid less that than in the first place."

"Well you could buy a new one for $700." they said. Double talk.

    Don't buy warrantees. :banghead:

    To clear up the confusion:

The majority owner of KTM, bought Husqvarna. KTM is not the owner. KTM has no ownership in Husqvarna. Husqvarna likely gets a discount on licensing fees on the '14 models which are essentially rebadged KTMs. KTM, however, has zero responsibility for Husqvarna. Calling KTM isn't who you need to contact. You need to contact Husqvarna. The best way to do that is going to be through a dealer. And you're going to need to be clear on the problem, and patient. They're people too you know. You might be pissed, but they have to deal with your pissed off self, so take a breath and calm down.

If it's a matter of a $15 part, and 10 minute job, then really buck up and do it. If you rely on the dealer to do every bit of maintenance, you'll be at the dealer more than you're riding. Bikes need constant attention, it's just how it is.

Yep Kelly, that's pretty much the deal. Fix it and move one.

By reading these posts from Mark, he reminds me of another member we once had here that carried on the same way. I can't remember his name but I remember him saying his dealer had him banned from entering the dealership because of his antics. Bashing the brand here @ CH ain't gonna do a thing to clear up the warranty issue. If the UK has consumer laws that protect consumers, then go down that avenue.

I'm OK with doing my own repairs as long as there are parts available.

When I bought my'14 CR I understood that the Husky name was sold to KTM, and the new Huskies would be rebadged KTMs but I was assured that parts support for the Italian Huskies would be no problem in the future, by the dealer and members here on CH.

My choice of bikes at the time were the Husqvarna CR/WR125 or the KTM 150xc. Being a cheapskate I weighed the options and chose the Husky. We'll see if I made the right choice down the road.

Theres no reason to think you were a cheapskate by picking the Italian over a ktm. I would call that a smart purchase with it being about the best enduro made. You are among the lucky few.
