http://www.tractorracing.com/ http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=947669 This race (HS/GNCC style) was the most fun race (1.5hr) I have ever done and this is the sentiment of many other folks that did it last year. Well organized, very friendly with a tough but very do-able flowing course layout.
Just got back from the Tractor Hare Scrambles held in Tecate Baja Ca. Mex. Gory Graffunder WINS 1st overall Cory was on a TXC 449. He was running second behind young Mexican up and comer Ivan Ramirez. Ramirez had some bike troubles and that allowed Cory to take the lead and from what I was told, checked out from the rest of the Pro field and takes the 1,000 dollar 1st overall prize money. Talked to Cory before the race. Really nice guy. Zip Ty crew having a busy weekend. Cory in Tecate, Dez crew (Nick B. and David K.) at Nat. H & H Sunday and other Zip Ty crew at the Big 6 GP's (I think thats the series also going on)... Robert Nantista raced senior class and put in a good ride... As for me....Well, had a crappy start in the Vet class, worked my way up and was told possibly 3rd place Vet out of about 15 Vet riders...Well at least I finished on the lead lap Another perfect So. Cal (Northern Baja Mex) weekend Mitch
Mitch, lost track of scores, sorry. I think you are top5,I think off podium. And good ride 4 laps in all the masters got 3 Corry G the Canadian conquers Tecate again. My report, caught a muscle aching bug on thurs, ate vitas drank lots of fluids, coming into race at less than perfect state. The course was tough, challenging and fun, there were not really any rest sections, first lap I had the best start I have ever had in any race, P2 at the holeshot gate, I did all the (there were easy and tough)tough turn off sections and set the fastest lap time in the 45+ class. L2 and 3 I took all the easy way arounds, they made you lose time, they weaved them out and around the tough sections. But of course I blew my wad on that L1 out lap, L2 was ok but I did rest a couple times (read stop and drink) and then on entering my 3rd I got lapped from Cory G and KTMs Ivan Ramirez, further into the L3 I tagged a rock that bent my brake pedal under my clutch cover (7602 bullet proof) with my brake dragging big time I had to stop and use sticks that kept breaking to bend it back out lost about 10 minutes maybe more also lost probably 3-4 positions maybe more, finished in P6 happy ok not totally happy but participation is the key, and riding the same course as extreme and endurocross rider Corry G is always cool. PS next bike will be a smaller than 450 for sure a 250-350 4t or maybe even a 2t again, thanks to all my sponsors...........and other mod teams LTR, 7602, brux, rynopower, C&D cycles, NCM.net, GP motos this is only my second race since open heart surgery,,,,,there is no substitute for training a lesson a relearned today.
Of note, it was cool to see Cory show up in the boonies of mexico with his mini size pickup with a canadian plate, his TXC449, his gearbag and 2 1 gal milk jugs (spray painted gold for ID purposes). Very simple affable racer enjoying his bike time......and winning on the new Husky TXC449 which was 99%stock, Easton bars, FMF exhaust system and a couple of other things from Ty.
Dude U Rip, I suck!!! I want a light weight bike for these rides !!! Truth is, at this point in my B level amateur sporting career just participating and finishing needs to be good enough!!!
Some photos from Baja moderator at TT, lots of rocky steep stuff and a nice fun and safe e-cross section. Well set up and managed local club event with great international flavor, Mexico, Canada, with US, France and Wales (GB) from our crew all represented. http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=947669&page=2
