Will the cr125 ignition light up the stock wr125 lights?

I'm thinking about doing this mod. It seems like the last thing to do on the wr144. I still have yet to dial in the powervalve springs but if it fails in getting the power delivery I want it will be the next step.

The only thing I need is minimum lighting for enduros in Canada...I wish we went the way of the US nationals and ditched the lights already

edit: btw if anyone has a used cr125 ignition to sell...

    Gestion,

I know that Ajaxauto had his cr coil rewound for more output and then invested in LED lights and was able to race nights!!!

He is the guy to talk to about this and knows all the details. I would expect the cr ignition to definitely liven it up.

Are they the same as the 09's?

maybe I could have it rebuilt with enough wattage...

The CR ignition will not run lights as it comes out of the box. They can made to run lights. There is a sticky with the instructions somewhere here.

Ok then it's the ktm stator mod or rewind a cr125 one.

Anyone with an opinion if this is a worthwhile mod.

My dealer has done quite a few Moose KTM stators, but dfeckel's crapped out shortly after he did the mod and he ended up getting the stock one rewound.

I have had a couple of issues with 1 or 2 of the Moose stators as well.

I did a post mortem on the Moose stator, and I think I nicked the ignition winding at some point during the install. I ended up with a weak spark, and then it just gave out completely on the trail. Is it still a worthwhile mod? Yes. I just should have been more careful during the disassembly/reassembly.

Did you already have the cr or wr stock? I'm looking to go from wr to cr for the power delivery...

I had the stock CR ignition. I initally wanted to do the Moose KTM stator swap so that I didn't have any significant downtime by sending out the stocker for rewinding. However, if you can get a second-hand CR ignition, I say just get it rewound for lights. You already have the WR ignition, so downtime is not an issue. Just make sure you get the CR flywheel, too--I don't think the WR flywheel will work with the CR stator.

I think if I go with this mod, I will go with everything new. I want to have the most reliable setup possible for racing.
