I know its popular to run a cr ignition in a wr but what about the other way? I have a cr125 which i use for woods riding and dont use alot of top end so I was thinking a wr ignition would be a good move for me. What do you guys recommend?

Bike is stock except Hgs pipe.

What year is your CR? I just converted my '09 WR ignition to a CR ignition. You can switch over. Im pretty sure that if your CR is a model year 00 - 06 you will need the stator, flywheel, coil, and rectifier from a WR up to 2011. Im not 100% sure what years work with each other. Check the parts micro fiche on Halls website. Knowing the year of your bike would make it easier. Its a straight forward swap. I went with the CR ignition mainly because its digital and I wanted to use the JD dual map CDI. We will get you squared away.

+1 on the flywheel weight. Unless you need a big stator to run a bunch of lights the flywheel weight would have the same affect and can be easily removed plus it enables you to experiment with different amounts of weight. I did this on my 200 GasGas and used a small diameter 10oz weight which split the difference between the big and small ignition.

I just looked into adding some fly wheel weight (FWW) to my sons TM 250. Steahly makes bolt on FWW's for most bikes. They are easy to install and cost about $120.00 or so. You can get different weights depending on what you want. Their website has good info on the subject.

The guys are right. It would be easiest to try a FWW weight first. If you did want to make the swap I am not sure if the '98 CR is digital or analog. If its analog then you might just need the stator and flywheel. I will have to check out Halls site.......because I am not really sure.
